Off to the Dentist...

the veterinary dentist.

My husband and I adopted a beautiful Russian Blue boy (cat) 3 months ago. He's fit in with our other pets so well and is very friendly. His previous owners did not take the best care of him, so we're glad he was surrendered to the cat rescue. He was underweight, had urinary crystals, has one eye (motorcycle accident), and missing teeth. Last week, he had 4 more teeth removed. We found out his body has been reabsorbing his teeth (painful), and he is likely to lose all of his teeth over time.

Today, he's going in for a check on the stitches and that the wounds are healing well. He's a real trooper about being at the vet's and having procedures done. What he hates is the car ride. Neither of us are looking forward to an hour each way of crying.

You're so good to give him the extra care he needs, Alice. It isn't easy (or cheap), I know. Sweet boy to be so good at the vet's. You must have a good vet too. Best of luck!

Well, even though he hates the car ride, I would NOT let him ride the motorcycle any more!

Seriously, let's hope with your TLC and good veterinary care he will return to full health. Sounds like he has been through a lot. What's his name?

I agree, they'll wait and they'll be fine. I often go to the garden (I don't live at the farm yet, I still live in town) and pull beets. I bring them home and put the bucket in the garage overnight or even two nights. If I want to eat the greens I remove them, if not I leave them on and remove them when I get ready to use the beets. If I'm storing them long term, I take the tops off but for a couple of days they keep fine, even with the tops on. My garage is not heated or cooled, so when it's 100F outside, it's 100F (or higher) inside. Again, that's not good for long term storage but it's fine for a day. Annie

Wow some good eats tonight!!! Luckygarndnr-I love beef ribs, but I am not sure I have ever heard of the sauce you had with them. Can you please share your recipe??? I prefer rice over a baked potato. Glenda-Sounds as if you had a feast. Glad you enjoyed the food and fellowship Gadgets- light ryebread with refried beans and cheese sounds like it hit the spot dead on.. Oh, I got home o.k. The dental Clinic is only 2 miles from me, no time at all in Joann's pick-up. It rained most of the day, there was a break inn the late afternoon, resulting in this photo, pretty dramatic. It will still be unsettled tomorrow, then a break: mostly sunny, for a day, after that chance of showers returns.

When we had take our cats anywhere, and they were in a cage/carrier we found out they were less stressed out, and very little crying if we just put a towel/light blanket over the cage. That seemed to give them security.
