So, How Do You Like Your...............?

So, do you like eggs and if so, how do you like them? I guess my first choice is fried, sunny side up, the rest I just like them about anyway you can fix them.

I like mine fried, only I just spray my skillet with Pam, and cook them like that. When it is time I just flip them over. Then eatum up!!

well, ummmm, is that a natural area for that type of oak, or have you pushed its boundaries? if it's just heat stressed, and disease has not sat in, I would say give it a tap more irrigation, but seeing it's in lawn, hummmmmm. if it doesn't eventually convert over to the area its in, you might have to take it out. if its diseased, I would take it out now, and treat the area around it. don't want to chance trees that get BIG , for when they fail, the failure is normally BIG too.

I love, love, love eating asparagus and have been eating it all winter. I would rather eat local asparagus especially the thin wild stalks that I have picked along county roads. I put it in a frying pan with a tiny bit of water and just cook until the colour turns bright green then I sprinkle with a few drops of lemon and a grind of pepper. My brother once gave me a crate of asparagus from his store and I ate every bit of it. Funny story about my Mom. Asparagus was her favourite vegetable. Like you she would eat it canned or frozen or in soup. After a time after she had Alzheimer's I put asparagus on her plate and she "freaked" out and threw it on the floor. She said she didn't know what it was and there was no way she was going to eat that funny looking thing on her plate. I told her it was her favourite vegetable and she told me she hated it and wouldn't eat it. She ate it a week before that and never ate it again. LOL Anne

Question re blackout blinds/shades

Had blackout cellular blinds in a previous house. They blocked light in our east facing bedroom well. Some light seeped through the edge as expected. They block a lot more light than the non blackout. The two issues I had with them are they're functional but not decorative and it's almost all or nothing with the light. The blinds are open and let in light or closed and block most of it. In my office it wasn't easy to block the glare but keep some light.

Does anyone use a steam mop for hardwood floors?

I know of several people that use and swear by steam mops on hardwood. One friend has a 100 yr old house and said her floors have never been as clean as they are now since she started using the steam mop. I do not have hard wood and was told by the manufacturer not to use steam on laminate because it can cause some of them to start to delaminate on the edges. I have a shark steam mop and can tell you from experience the floor does NOT get wet it is dry pretty much instantly. It would get more water exposure by using a wet mop which is much wetter than a steam mop. But it is up to each individual as to whether they want to try it. My friend tried it first in a closet that had the same hard wood as the rest of the house and she was thrilled with the cleaning. When I was trying to decide if I wanted a steam mop and what kind I found my answer right here on GW at the cleaning forum and if you don't think there have been tons of discussions on the topic then just check out this link from that one forum. steam mops IT is a very heavily discussed topic here at GW. LOL If I had hardwood I would likely do the same test, I would try it on a location that is not right out in the open. Or specifically ask the manufacturer of the hard wood if that is a possibility. When I steam mop my tile it is completely dry in seconds after the mop goes over it, I can't risk the slipping factor, which is why it is really good for me. And I can do it sitting in my chair because the mop is so easy to use. I would certainly never presume to tell someone what to do I think we are all intelligent enough to make those informed decisions.

I don't like eggs, funny because when I was a teenager I liked them fried (with a soft yolk) or boiled and mashed up with butter. Now I can't stand the taste or smell of them. I don't know what turned me.

White done and not browned. I like them cooked slow and turned over. I like scrambled also, that is what I had for breakfast with smoked sausage, toast, juice and tomatoes.

over nicely fried in bacon grease so the edges have a little crisp and the yolk juicy, but no white goo. then i love baked eggs; soft boiled; scrambled in that order.

Either fried over easy or soft scramble. Can't stand scrambled or fried eggs that are hard and overcooked. I love my mom's egg sandwiches: fried over easy egg on toast with Miracle Whip, mustard and catsup and crispy fried bacon. They're messy but so good.

Bacon wrapped baked eggs is my all time favorite. And easy meaning soft!

Soft boiled, I love, and served over crispy buttered toast

I don't care for eggs except in puddings and custards. If I want an omelet, I order it with egg beaters.

Basted in bacon grease with the white cooked just a little crisp around the edges with the runny yolk.

I also like them in omelets,scrambles,hard boiled and sometimes poached.

Like them cooked anyway, as long as they aren't hard cooked - especailly scrambled. I haven't had poached in a long while. Not sure if I would like them as much as I used to. Baked eggs - sounds good, but never heard of it. Any special method, or recipe? What about fake eggs, as in egg beaters?

Are Egg Beaters, egg whites with some things added to them? I was thinking they were. Haven't had any in a very long time.

I love poached eggs on buttered toast. I also like deviled eggs and sunny side up steamed with a tablespoon of water and cover the pan with a lid until the top is cooked opaque.

I like them fried, but I like the yolk broken and cooked so it's not runny. I also like them deviled.

I don't eat eggs....maybe one scrambled egg every 4 or 5 years, if I have a bite of meat or biscuit or toast with every bite...but I cook with them or use them in tuna and potato salad. I used to cook eggs every morning for my mother. She liked them sunny side up. If I broke the yoke, she fed it to the cat and I had to cook another one.

marilyn c, if I should happen to break the egg yolk on my husband's fried eggs and they get a little on the hard side, he won't eat them.

The day after late DH and I came home from our honeymoon, it was a Sunday morning, and I made him fried eggs and bacon for breakfast.
One of the yokes broke....and when he saw it, refused to eat it and said "you're lucky - my father would have thrown it at you".

Oh boy, was I tempted to do something....but I didn't. I just told him that HE was lucky HE didn't have egg on his face, for saying that.

I also never gave him a broken egg yolk again.

I like to dip toast in the yolk. Or mix my egg in with my corned beef hash. Or on a pancake. They have to have lots of salt and pepper too.

I also like them boiled, shelled hot, with salt, pepper and butter on them. YUM!

Scrambled if I'm having it with toast. Add grits to breakfast and I like them over medium so I can mix and mash into the grits. Fried if I'm making a sandwich. Some nights I will boil a few for DH and I to have a quickee breakfast the next day.
