My kitchen is finally done!

Been without a kitchen since Jan. 4. (leak in dishwasher hose). I love it, but would not want to go through that again!

It's so beautiful! Can you share more photos and info. "Someday" I hope to be getting my new kitchen, if other disasters slow down enough!

worldmom - the light fixture is from a company called architects and heros. I could have ordere it online myself, but I got it through my kd. The cabinets are semi custom from Greenfield. The perimeter are a painted maple called brie and the peninsula is maple stained amberglo with a light black glaze. The mudroom is new to the house and so is the dutch door. A friend of mine has one to her mudroom, and I always wanted one so I can keep muddy dogs in there but still be able to see them. Our house was also built in 1910 and it was very interesting to see the demo happening. The old kitchen has a cement hearth where and old woodstove probably used to sit and that has to be jack hammered out. We also had old knob and tube wiring and old plumbing that had to be replaced. We love the milding in the house, so we had that copied and carried over to the addition to keep the character of the house intact. elfmom, yes, the floor is white oak and the stain color is minwax English Chestnut with a tung oil finish. So far we are loving it, although the dut does show up more than on our old lighter floors. The paint color on the walls is BM potters clay, the trim is BM cream fleece and the ceiling is BM monroe bisque.

Gwentm - thanks so much! We put several of the pocket doors with glass inserts throughout the house during the remodel/addition, and they were all from Lemieux. We compared doors from several companies and felt that they had the most competitive prices of all we looked at. We're happy with the doors, although not the installation! Our contractor installed them incorrectly, so now we have scratches in about 3 places on every door where they rub sliding into the wall, so will have to be re-installed and repainted - argghhhh! But then I shouldn't be surprised, since the quality of his work took a nosedive toward the end, that is, when he even bothered to show up! :) Good luck - hope you find the door you are looking for! Martha: Thank you so much for your kind words. I like the words "verbal bouquet", I am going to use that sometime this week... and yes they do have value. I appreciate your comments, thank you. Bayarea: Yes the red cabinets! Well, he did take them back and redid the finish. (He claims he didn't know his installer had taken them from the shop that day to install... whatever.) I told him to do away with the distressing and just give me finished red cabinets. He did accomplish that. We didn't end on the best of terms. I am thrilled with the quality of the construction, and for the most part happy with the finishing. However, his ability to run his own business and communicate with other humans leaves a lot to be desired. He won't get my reccommendation to anyone. Regarding the hearth, I would be remiss if I didn't say thanks to Colleen... (colleen, I can't remember your full screen name) for sending me a photo she had for inspiration. I was also highly influenced by this photo I found here on GW. I absolutely love it and worked my own rendidtion. If someone knows who to thank, please let me know!

Very clean looking.

I just finished having my kitchen and bathroom cabinets painted, plus hardwood wall cabinet in bathroom and new light fixtures.

very nice and clean looking. I like that you went with silestone and not the over used granite.
I have big hopes that some day soon we can begin the kitchen changes but first we have to finish the rest of the projects that are on going.

Did you know you're on Kitchen Table and not the kitchen forum? Not that we're not loving your kitchen because it is beautiful but they'll love to see it as well.

I had your old kitchen as well in a townhouse where we lived in the 80's. You must be thrilled with the new look.

blfenton: yes I know what forum I am on...been here since 1999 and had been complaining about no kitchen here since Jan so thought some might like to see. Going to try and get better pics though as the lighting was not right for the after pics.
Getting a new kitchen through insurance (well, 3/4 of it maybe) is not fun and it is one wait after another. We are still not done trying to get insurance to pay what they should, but all in all they were pretty good to us.

You did well. Not only your new kitchen is beautiful but it looks bigger and brighter too.

Funny how it is. By just making a few facelifts to the same kitchen and size, it would make the kitchen look bigger. I did the same to my kitchen 5 years ago and I'm still loving it.

Wow! What a wonderful improvement. I have Silestone, too and would recommend it to anyone. Your whole room seems so much brighter and "happier". Thanks for sharing---you must be in kitchen heaven!

awesome...looks like you added a "pantry" or broom closet? we bought 2, reversed one door, and made a pantry..of course it's too deep at times but wouldn't give up the stoage for anything... like the look...you can add pops of color for holidays and such...congrats!

Love what you've done. I too have the same Silestone and warm white cabs with bisque appliances. I love going in to a cheery kitchen now. Great job on yours. Enjoy!!

I thought at the Kitchen Table we could pretty much talk about whatever blows our dress up...ie "off topic" so what would be the issue with posting photos of a Kitchen...and wasn't there a big long thread on this forum for everyone to post photos of their kitchen at one time? Soooo...I don't know what that members problem is?

Hellion, I used to have that almost same exact kitchen when I lived in Florida. Actually, at the time, I liked it but I can see now that it's kind of out of date anymore. I love your new white cabinets! Good luck getting all that insurance mess straightened out, I don't envy you that! Though I do envy your pretty new kitchen...HEEHEE!

Very nice!

I "had" the same cabinet doors you had.....I had trouble opening them by gripping the lip. Real handles are much better. Even the small things make the space more enjoyable!

I have silestone in my powder room, granite in my kitchen....

Thank you all! I am really enjoying my new kitchen. Yes, the pantry is new, wasted space there anyway. I will try and get some better pic and a few close ups for Caroline to see.

Wow; that is such a clean, cheery kitchen! LOVE IT! I'm sure you had huge issues, but just looking at the finished product, I'd have to say they were worth it! (Of course I didn't live through your nightmare)! :)
