Comments (13)ooh, I had an idea. a "life reference library." Here are some suggestions, but of course there are alternate books, and maybe other topics. Home Comforts: The Art and Science of Keeping House To help them clean, and do laundry, etc. They won't need most of the stuff in there until later, but.... Emily Post's Etiquette, 17th Edition (Paperback) Bcs they're grown-ups now, and in charge of their own social life. Mayo Clinic Family Health Book, Third Edition Because they are now in charge of their own well-being. The Money Book for the Young, Fabulous & Broke Because they are now in charge of their own finances. Include a note that says something like, "Now that you're an adult, I can let you in on a little secret. All us grown-ups who look like we know everything? We don't. And whatever we *do* know now? Once upon a time, we didn't. We learned it along the way--sometimes the hard way. Hopefully these books will help you learn it the easy way. So you can be a know-it-all grown-up, just like us!" I like Pecanpie's idea, too--be sure to put a seam ripper in there, for removing scratchy tags from clothes, etc....See MoreNeed college graduation gift idea for step-daughter.
Comments (25)Hi Kids, Thanks for starting this thread, saramynn. We also have a graduation in May, and have been trying to come up with somthing as a gift. When I think of a graduation gift I like to think of something that will have meaning to the graduate throught the years and remind them of their accomplishments each time they see it. That being said, I'm not crazy about a gift of technology just because of it's short life span. Money is always a safe bet but does not have that personal touch. I think I like sherrmanns idea of the Waterford crystal. Even if it was a smaller piece and then give an additional gift of cash. Thanks Kids, now I have a direction to go in. Good luck to everyone involved in there own quest for the perfect gift! sooey...See Moregraduation gifts
Comments (51)I spent the evening with my niece.. we tried on, selected and purchased her new raybans. Unfortunately the color we liked best doesn't come polarized.. but she loves the ones we chose. (And I found a pair of versace glasses that we both loved for me! I am glad I stalled buying them because I found them online much cheaper-- which is good because I need to have prescription lenses put in them) Just wanted to return and share that she LOVES the duluth pack above-- but she does already have a bag she plans to use. She has a tall pair of hunter boots (which I thought) but she did say she wants a short pair too (it's all about the socks over the boots!) So all of these are good suggestions. She also mentioned lululemon leggings. Again, hope others are able to use some of these ideas! So many great ones. Thank you all again! I will be saving this for Christmas ideas as well....See MoreGraduation gifts
Comments (27)I honestly don't remember what we gave our son for HS graduation - I'm sure there was a gift. DD got some antique diamond/pearl drop earrings which she wore with her long white graduation dress (private school). One set of grandparents gave her an Apple computer - the old all-in-one with the little black/wht screen - it was 1990. College? DS desperately wanted a particular watch from his father and a custom made signet ring from us; he got both. DD got an antique silver wine cooler, a small 60" love seat for a first apt, and I upholstered two small wing chairs for her (yes, I DID do the upholstery myself!) first apt as well. DGS is graduating this June and his birthday was in early April. I will be buying him a laptop for college when he gets there - better prices through the campus bookstore. This is for both his 18th Bday and graduation....See Moremoonie_57 (8 NC)
