Kitchen Light Fixture - Help us decide!

Which do you think would look better in the center of a u-shaped kitchen the size of 10' x 11'? We can't decide between the two!!!

Does anyone have either one of these? If so, can you please post a picture and tell me how you like it?

I like the 1st (3 light one) better. I assume you have under ccabinet task lights in the room. The five light version seems too busy to me. If it were going over an island, it might work, but again IMO less is more.

I also prefer the first light. I like the lines and airyness it gives off.

The Bedford would work better with your space. Your space is really light all over right now, so anything you change may seem heavy or dark at first, but it really isn't. It is just a more updated look, so try to add some accessories to bring some of the darker metal to other areas so it all relates.

" looking for a round bubblegum with milky colored glass globe" not sure what that is ML. Sounds like the white globes I have now in the kitchen and hallway. (see pics above) That's what I want rid of... I've got 2 or 3 in a box somewhere here to take to GW. I wanted to add 2 more before I make the trip there - lol! yes, these ceiling lights have switches - and no, they aren't for reading. These ceiling are vaulted - too high to be for reading. I have numerous table lamps and 4-6 floor lamps (to be rewired). I could do that except now my fingers don't let me anymore. Will see if one of the guys will do it. At least a few. I have 3-4 (maybe a few more) that are in working order now. 4 rooms have ceiling fans (2 to be replaced). the DR I have no idea yet - also a vaulted ceiling. You don't like any of those above? I picked this kind cause I need them to 'cover areas'. The bathroom one covers the tub area, the shower (opposite side of the room) and the open area. Also, 3 60W bulbs give me more light than 1 100W does in a room. In the kitchen one could go to the left (stove), one down to sink and 1 more toward fridge/table. (there isn't a lot of space between any of those) I thought about a pendant over the sink but then that'd be more contained light over the sink. (well, that IS what an over the sink light is to do!) - I do have a pendant light on the other side of the kitchen area - by the pantry. In the kitchen I do have 2 large florescent lights in the ceiling - I use those if I'm making something or most anything at night. I'd like an alternate light source . The over the sink one is burned out now, so I'm using the others. I also want down lights (not to catch dust and bugs) and open at the bottom (easier to change bulbs). I have 2 skylights - 1 in the mstr bath and 1 in the kitchen. I think they are coated - but lots of people have skylights out here. My sister has a huge one in her kitchen over the island. It's great sunlight fall - spring. Those CFLs and my eyes would not be friends!

I feel like your challenge is going to be having whatever you put up , show against the dark wood on the ceiling. You may want to look into doing a brighter metal finish. May not be as "farm house" as you'd like but would show up better against the ceiling.

3 light one. the other is very busy looking. I like cleaner lines. Is the light going over something? it looks like a light that would go over an island or table not just hang in the center of the room. curious.

I like the first one. I don't like the second one, even over a table as it is shown in a room. It appears to be a fixture intended to be placed over a table, but suppose the too much going on is a good way to put it. The first one is structured, clean lines and has an architectural feeling that is on the light and airy side, if that makes sense. Reminds me of a beautiful bridge. The second one just looks like a tangle of stuff -- more like a big spider hanging over you.

The light is not going over anything - the plan is for it to hang in the middle of the kitchen replacing the ugly ceiling fan. We're hoping it won't look strange.

You nailed it! I loved the light because it reminded me of a suspension bridge (which I'm a big fan of and if we get this light then it's like having my own!) I'm glad someone besides me sees the resemblance! You just made my day.

I actually considered the first light myself when I saw it in a lighting showroom in Toronto. Nice quality, gives off lots of light.

Three-light hands-down for me. I have the three-light (wall mount in dark bronze) in my master bath. I adore it. I've had it for a few years, and never grow tired of it. I like it so much, that if I don't find something I like better I may put the one your considering over my own island.

Is it difficult to change the light bulbs? I'm a bit clumsy and am afraid I might drop the glass part when changing bulbs. I'm actually considering buying a spare and storing it in the event I need a replacement and they don't make it anymore.
