Car Doctor

Well I took my car in for a Diagnostic test ON SATURDAY and NOW I have to wait for the part on order.......maybe till Friday LOL!I am climbing the walls...............

It seems like you have a lot of car trouble--could it be time to bury the baby? Hope you get the part in before Friday and good luck.

My 15-yr old car asked for one repair job too many! Greedy beast - It's now being parted out at the scrapyard, - had it 10 years, and grew to hate it! Now I'm borrowing my son's car when I need to get out, and shopping for a new (almost new, that is) one - new to me. It's hard not having your own car!!! I sympathize.

Well, right off, I don't think you can force a 19 year old to do anything they don't want to. The only way you possibly could, would be to have her declared incompetant, and yourself appointed as guardian. I don't think it's going to happen. Your daughter is still quite young (even though legally an adult, her brain is only working on an emotional, not logical level at that age), so you're going to have to tread very carefully here. She's been damaged. I do hope you've show your outrage and support of her by suing that dr--what he did was absolutely inexcusable and wrong, to do that to a 15 year old with no warning--I realize HE felt he was performing a medical test, but to a 15 year old, it was a lot more like a rape--as I know you know. I also hope you got her appropriate counselling at the time. But that's a different question. Now? You need to gently help your daughter learn how adults handle things. An adult has the responsibility of taking care of themself. An adult has the right to choose their own dr, has the responsibility of demanding respectful treatment. Have you tried suggesting she go to a woman gynocologist or GP? And that she sit down with the woman and discuss her past history, her fears, and ask that she be fully informed before, during and after any kind of test, examination or procedure. You're going to have to hold your temper and fear in check, because your daughter has quite obviously been traumatized, and it's going to take time and care to get her past it. I would highly recommend against you committing a crime and lying to obtain meds for your daughter. However, you could sit down with your dr. and honestly discuss the situation and get his advice on handling it. That actually would be a good place to start. Really, though, if you can somehow convince her to see a woman dr. or nurse-practitioner, I think it will help her get past her fears, and develop a bit more confidence--but it won't happen overnight. thx ERF! marti - yeah, I know. I was shocked. I'd been watching CL for them to list it - figuring they wouldn't think to keep my ph# (Or bother). to just stop in here to see if I still wanted it - and then to even offer to check out my battery (plus deliver the dw). wow. such nice people. THEN with everything going on - I forgot to pay them! and they just left... I was just heading to the door (w/purse in hand) to head down to their house when I heard a knock ... they came back. I was just so glad they did. and yesterday the car died on me again. just down the road from my mechanic. he sent someone down to jump it. It reacted weirdly. he suggested a short somewhere (not me either!). I stopped on down at the shop and the guy came out and thought something looked weird and tightened something. But the car was dead again today... I'm beginning to think it is this new battery and/or maybe how it was put in. Will be calling the mechanic in the a.m. (even tho I'm scheduled to have it in there on Monday a.m.). the way it is now I'll need a jump to get there! now i'm afraid to go anywhere for fear it won't start when I'm done and ready to come home. I'll be stuck out in the heat again. and yeah - I was glad to hear puppy bark at a real person! I did wonder if she barked at him 'cause he's bald (shaved). btw, the dw is a GE - hope I don't hate it. I opened it and it looks like it's never been used!

I love to wear perfumes and cologne and love it when others do. Especially my hubby. I have days when I'm a little sensitive to fragrances because of allergies but since taking Claritin daily, I've not noticed the sensitivity problems. It's almost painful read of others tossing bottles of perfume. When I get hooked on a certain fragrance, whether it be in liquid or lotion form, I will scour the world, literally, to find more of it. Don't even want to think about how it may be sitting in the bottom of a trash can at your home! :-) I have my daily favorites and what I wear each day depends on who I'm going to be around. If my daughter is coming for a visit, I'll wear Tuscany per donna by Aramis because it is her "Shalimar" ... she told me she will always think of me when she smells Tuscany. It's probably the most pricey of the perfumes I have. I often wear Chanel No. 5 when I retire at night as I find it soothing. I will also wear it around older friends who remember the days it was a popular scent. When I'm going to meet with people I worked with back in the 70s, 80s and 90s, I usually wear Ciara by Charles Revson because that's primarily what I wore back then and it helps them to reconnect I think. For every day use, I love Avon's Imari. I get a lot of compliments on it and it's in keeping with my rather zen lifestyle. Gosh, don't toss your bottles, send them to me. :-) Jodi-

This is a 2000 VW Beetle that I own it only has 50,000 miles and has been a headache from the day I bought it awhile ago a expensive headache LOL!

My sympathy to you Red. DH has sworn off VW's forever. We had to get rid of oldest DD's Jetta. It would just quit running for no apparent reason. We would have it worked on, said it was fixed, and it would do it again. The nearest dealer is 50 miles away and the towing was killing us. DH looked up all possible reasons for this and decided it was a $7 relay swith (which they refused to replace). After 6 trips to the shop at $250-$350 each time we finally just sold it.

DD#2 has a New Beetle and there is always something wrong with it. It does run ok, but the speakers cracked (they glued them back together instead of replacing because it was waranty work) the radio quit, the moonroof doesn't open, emblems fell off the wheels, gas tank latch quit opening, trunk latch quit...... just bunches of little things keep going, but it is in her name and she likes driving it (they are fun to drive) so we still have that one.

If it is brand new I would be going after them under the Lemon Law!

Unfortunately it was not new, it was a certified used VW purchased at a dealer, but it didn't start its problems till after the limited waranty ran out. Just like everything else we seem to get. The gentleman who bought it was a deisel mechanic. We gave him all the paperwork and he said he could fix it himself and wasn't worried about it, so it turned out ok. My mother wanted a new car so she gave DD hers so dad would get her a new one. Now she doesn't like it and wants to give it to DD#2 so she can get another one.
