need deck advice and opinions

I have a 26 x 9' pre-existing covered concrete patio in the rear of my 2005 built home in Castle Rock, Colorado.

This existing patio is about 6" above grade and is a single step down to my very level yard.

My wife and I are toying around the idea of extending our patio, meaning adding a low maintenance deck off the existing concrete patio that is level with the existing.

We thinking about taking it out 10-12' and it would be the same width, approx. 26' . We are thinkg it could trex (or similar) topped and probably wouldn't need a railing, since it would be just 6" off the ground.

My question and concerns are many, but I'm wondering how I would create a joist system underneath this with so little room. I'm not sure how to transition from footers to beams to joist of that is not needed for this type of deck. Currently the area between existing deck is wood-mulched but could be anything, so ideas on whats best underneath would also be welcomed.

I'll just stop here and see what the experts say.

Thanks,

Scott
