I like Me, too! I enjoy dining alone, no problem. A movie, maybe once in my life.

When I lived in California, I went on a beach trip by myself. I actually, got "hit" on. LOL! But, I was concerned he was the Boston Strangler gone Beach. LOL!

I went to an evening performance of Chicago (the band) here alone. Just told my seatmates I was new in town. Everyone was friendly. I usually go alone to movies both evening and matinees. I would prefer to go with a friend but this is a couples town and all my friends are married.

I found the first time dining out alone was HARD, but now it doesn't bother me one bit.. Don't go to fine dining places or out at nite.

Couple times, packed my suitcase and drove to Gulf Shores! Now THAT was nice!

All my friends are married, and have been blessed that they include me at times, but THEN there are times, when I just wish I had someone to go somewhere as a couple, but that is a thing of the past.

I'm content.

When I worked midnight shift I went to a lot of matinees at the movie theaters alone. I liked it that way.

I hate to eat out alone. For some reason I feel like everyone in the restaurant is staring at me and feeling pity that I have no friends. LOL!!! I've only done it a couple of times when Bob was in the hospital. I truly realize people aren't pointing at me and whispering words of pity, but I still feel self conscious.

The one time I really enjoyed eating by myself was a few months ago. I had asked to be off from work on a Saturday, but they wouldn't let me off. Not only that, but I had to be there at 3am instead of 7am. Just before 7am, when my regular shift began, there was a major breakdown and the parts to fix it had to be shipped in. Production was going to be down for hours.They were asking people if they wanted to leave. I jumped on that. I went directly to a Krystal restaurant and ordered a country breakfast. I bought a newspaper and ate and read in a leisurely manner. That was nice; no barking dogs, no growly hubby, no talky kid. Even though I love all of them dearly, a break was nice.

I've always been "on my own" to the biggest extent, so I don't at all mind being alone for dining, going to movies, sight-seeing, shopping, etc.

In most cases I have much more enjoyment from my solo trips and outings that I do when someone else is along. Most people don't like to linger as long as I do. When alone, I don't have to consider the other person's comfort, hunger, stress, funding, or anything. I just enjoy myself.

That said, I'd love to come see the show with you!

I do object to the way women dining alone are often ignored. I've made it my mission to bring it to the waiters and managers attention that I am a real person; I don't want to sit near the kitchen; I do want drink refilled, and I expect the same good service I'd recieve if there was (gasp!) a man sitting at the table.

I dine alone alot. I usually just read a book or the paper. I've never gone to a movie alone. I would, I'm just not a big movie-goer.

I want to go see a NYC revival of "South Pacific". I'm gonna wash that man right out of my hair. DH refuses to go, it's too much money, I hate the city, you won't like it, its a waste, etc etc. I plan to invite my friend Janet and go-by myself if necessary!

I used to go alone to the theater in NYC when I did a lot of work in Manhattan. Would pick up a 1/2 price ticket in the morning at the World Trade center, next door to my hotel, on the way to customer's offices.
Why just sit in a hotel room?

I like to go places with Jammer, family or friends. But I sure don't mind going by myself either. I wouldn't let that stop me!

You will enjoy Menopause!

I keep saying I am going to start going to movies by myself. There are always some that I want to see that DH wouldn't be interested in.

I don't like dining alone...I usually go through the drive through if I am by myself.

You'll love Menopause Glenda. I'd go see it again in a heartbeat. Can't say I'd go alone though, in downtown Omaha.

I like going on a "date" with myself. Sure it's fun to go with others (I mostly hang out with women friends) but alone is great too. You are going to really enjoy "Menopause."

When I had a traveling DH, the children & I did lots of things together. Now I sometimes eat out alone and go to the occasional movie or event alone when it's something DH doesn't want to go to. Since I live in such a small town, there's often people I know to sit with, visit with, etc.

When I was a teenager I would get all dressed up on a Saturday and ride the bus into downtown. I would go to a really fancy restaurant, one I couldn't afford, and order a pot of tea. I just wanted to be there in that place. I never told anyone in the family because I was afraid they would laugh at me. But I guess that conditioned me so that I never mind dining alone. When I was married I went to the movies alone. While I prefer to go with a date or a buddy, I still have a fondness for really nice restaurants. I haven't ordered only tea in a long time, but I think I'd still do it - LOL.

Glenda; do you live in Omaha??? For some reason thought you lived in Florida. The next time I come to Omaha, I'd love to meet you somewhere for lunch, or a movie, or whatever!

I have been doing that for years. I was a SAHM and most of my friends worked so ended up doing a lot of stuff alone during the week. If there was a movie I really wanted to see that DH didn't, I would go to a matinee by myself. I also have eaten breakfast and lunch alone and kind of like being waited on for a change. I am kind of use to doing things by myself and don't really like doing things with company now.

I wish I lived closer Glenda! I would love to go see Menopause with you! But I don't have a problem doing things like that alone - it's just more fun with a friend. I hear it's a wonderful show! Let us know all about it.

I'm not a big movie goer either. I do eat out alone if i am out and about ,but i keep books in my car for that reason.I also like myself.

I love my alone time. I dine out and go to the movies alone frequently. I do road trips by myself at times also. I am not shy and enjoy meeting new people. That to me is the biggest perk of going it alone.

Menopause the musical is great. I saw it with my Red Hat group. Glenda have you ever considered joining a chapter in your area?
