Fiberglass pool with sun shelf?

Is it possible to have these items together?

- A small fiberglass pool -- thinking mayhap 10x15-ish
- A 6" deep sun shelf, lounge ledge, whatever you want to call it -- big enough for two people to sit in chairs

I'm fairly well sold on the idea of a fiberglass pool, and I definitely don't want to go too big for maintenance reasons . . . but I'm thinking that we'd really enjoy a "shelf", and I haven't seen a fiberglass pool with this option. However, I'm definitely in the learning-phase when it comes to pools, and I don't pretend to know it all!

How about something like the San Juan Pools' "Crystal Cove"? (Link below) It's roughly 12' x 18', and looks like it has the type of sun deck that you're looking for... not too big but not too small. We have the San Juan "Stardust" in our backyard. Hope this helps a little!

I love the sun shelf with the umbrella holes, but I designed the pool to have that feature. An afterthought? Not sure how that would work. We have purchased a new home with a funky pool. Truly funky! There is no way to have a tanning shelf, but a nice floaty with an umbrella might work! What is cool about this funky pool is the grotto, waterfall over, but under... OH MY!! A jacuzzi with a shelf for your cool drink. I hate to leave this pool with the tanning shelf, miles of umbrellas, and an olympic pool, but I'm getting used to this little funky one! Good luck to you! $29,000.00 Just my guess. Assuming you want plain jane, no decking, no frills equipment, 1 light, and no special coping material, and easy access, and you want it built when the builder needs some work. Truth is... all those won't be the case. And material, and especially labor rates vary so much from one location to another that its very hard to predict. I think most would agree that the exact same pool in different parts of the country could vary in price by almost 100%. Climate and local ordinances could play a big role too. IMO, the biggest factor is the local demand for work. Pre-Katrina, I bet you could build a pool (or anything else) in south Louisiana for 25-45% less than you can now. Labor is in such high demand... that there's a price to pay paid for it... and it ain't cheap. Get you a few bids. I think I got 4 bids, and they were remarkarbly close. The quality might not have been close, but their numbers were.... My guess of $29,000 is probably accurate plus or minus $10k. Good luck and enjoy the process!!

If you must “always be selling”, please do so with facts. Aluminum corrodes. The powder coating also helps to extend the life of the pole from corrosion. Some poles can be replaced. Fiberglass ribs are definitely great for areas with strong winds. Everyone shops based on their personal decisions of cost/benefit and hopefully using objective research.

I hadn't heard of this name-brand, but they are sold in the big city just down the road from us. Excellent information!

This shelf isn't quite as big as I'd hoped . . . but it's much bigger than any other I've seen on a fiberglass pool. I think I'll check them out next weekend. Thanks!

Try barrier reef. They have some smaller pools and you can add a tanning ledge that is 9x9 and 10 in deep if you want. We are talking to a builder now and looking at one of the larger models and adding the tanning ledge.
