We've used superdeck for years with redwood decks and it performs as well as any.

We tried their original exotic stain and did not like it. They have recently reformulated that product, but I have not had a chance to sample it.

Supper deck/penofin very simular prducts,they were one Co in the past.

One shot it is Bro,by all means do not use twp.

Superdeck is good at going on easy for the novice, but I've found it does not last long. If your deck is out in the sun much you'll be doing another coat in 6 months. TWP will last twice as long with only one coat.

I've just found this forum & have been reading a lot about finishing Ipe. I have not seen this question, which is what drives me crazy about the Penofin we used:

Does the Penofin actually attract/absorb dirt because it's an oil? I feel like as soon as we start walking on the decks after sealing them, you see all the footprints & doggy prints. We wait even longer than the suggested 12 hours before walking on it, but it doesn't seem to matter. It looks absolutely beautiful right after sealing it, but then gets dirty very fast & stays that way. The only thing that works at all is scrubbing it down with a big brush broom & water - but it still looks dirty - and we have over 2000 sq. ft. of deck.
We're getting ready to have it professionally sanded & re-oiled - I do like that the Penofin is easy, but I just wanted anyone's input as to the dirt issue.
Last summer while the deck was being installed, we suffered through many California wildfires & lots of ash. I feel like that all got trampled into the wood.
Will just sanding it give us a fresh start?

The southern California sun doesn't help, I know, and most of the decks get a lot of sun all day. I don't mind the fading as much as the feel of dirtiness.

I've used Superdeck on cedar and hardwood. Very satisfied with it. There is no such thing as a one-time application for exterior wood, in my opinion. The sun is relentless in its' bleaching activity. Even in Seattle it is a once a year application to keep the rich woodgrain look.

jeninsb, not sure about the dirt issue. Yes, sanding will take you down to new wood. When applied to hardwood decks, you need to watch how the Superdeck pools on the wood. It needs to be wiped down, but you may know of this. I usually stay off the wood for a couple of days.

I am trying to do it this time (only our 2nd application since new) when we will be out of town & the dogs won't be here so the oil can be absorbed for a couple of days before there is any foot traffic.
We'll see how that goes - from what I've read the first year requires a couple of applications & then we can probably do it annually.

Oh - and I do know about wiping any excess off, so that wasn't the issue.
We'll see how it goes this time around.
