We were next in line at Walmart's. The elderly couple at the register didn't have quite enough money for all their groceries, so they told the clerk to take back their sugar and their cookies. While they were still fussing with their bags, I told the clerk to ring up the cookies and sugar with our purchases, and quietly hand the bag to the couple as if they had just forgotten one of their purchases. I'm sure they were surprised when they got home.

That was really nice.

I was in line at a convenience store. The clerk was taking a lot of time with each person. So while I was standing there, I saw something else I wanted and got out of line to go get it. I was heading back to the end of the line, when the guy that had been in front of me, invited me back to my original spot in line.

I love it when people are nice to each other!!!

Isn't it amazing what such a small act of kindness can do to brighten up your day, and really it takes such a small effort.
Something we can all practice more often.

Cause I'm short, people generally offer to help me reach something on the shelf that's is unreachable for me.

me too Glenda or sometimes I ask if I can borow "your Husband" to get something down for me the ladies usually smile at that.

Today I gave a 40% off one item coupon at Hobby Lobby to some lady.

Just 15 minutes ago, I was walking my dogs - a car with three ladies stopped and said 'your hair is beautiful' - made my day!

An old friend of mine sent a bunch of her old pants and scrubs. Unfortunately the scrubs don't fit but the jeans do, most are Lee jeans which I love. No spandex in them and they aren't low cut.

My daughter (18) was standing in line to get in Universal and gave an extra ticket she had to a family with a bunch of kids!

Yesterday at the Dollar Store a lady unloaded all her stuff and the clerk bagged it and rang it in. $138 She used her debit and it wouldn't go thru; NSF. So she just turned and walked out the store and left all her stuff.

The clerk had to manually void everything individually, which made for a lengthy transaction, and the line was quite long.

Another till opened and we walked over. Since Hubby and I were the near the first at the new till, (we were near the end of the line at the other till) we stepped back and told the families who were in front of us before, to be in front again. They were very appreciative!

Often at my nearest grocery store, I walk there, people will see me in line juggling items and will invite me to go ahead. If I'm really having trouble, I'll take them up on their offer. And I always say thank you, have a nice day. If I'm okay (one to three items) I'll decline and say "I'm in no hurry."

Cheri2008-Yes the little things can brighten your whole day! If I see a shirt or necklace etc that looks really nice, I try and compliment the owner.

DH took the girls to the mall yesterday and went to an arcade. There was a teenage boy there with a boatload of tickets. The girls were watching the game he was playing. As they turned to leave, the boy offered my DH a handful of tickets. DH said no, wasn't necessary, and he earned them, but the boy said he just enjoyed playing. Was shocked that a teenager was so generous!

I did a good deed recently. I was shopping, got in the way of the shopper behind me. She was a young woman with a little boy sitting in her cart. He politely said "Scuse me." and I moved aside. I told the mother "He has very nice manners" and she thanked me.

Today at the grocery a man in a store electric wheelchair had quite a few items (in the 8 items or less line) and I asked whether he'd like me to get him a box, so I went over to the corral where a lot of cases were stacked and got a nice cardboard tray for him.

Sometimes I hold a door open for a younger person and say that I'm retired, so I have more time than they do.

It does make one's day to have someone offer an unexpected compliment.

Yes yesterday my DH's two sisters came in for a visit...we met at a local seafood resturant for lunch..wanted to take a pic of all of us...we had all brought our cameras..and wondered how we would get a group pic...when this young couple were driving off they stopped and asked if we would like for him to take our pics..he took each camera and snapped our pics..such a good feeling we all got..

I am fortunate to be disabled because I see genuine kindness in people very often. It have empowered me to do the same when I get a chance.

This thread showed that there are more kind people in the world than the news & media make it to be.

Recently, a friend and I met to have breakfast at IHOP. We chose IHOP because it was a place we both could afford. While we were finishing our breakfasts, the waitress came by and told us that our ticket was taken care for already by a young couple dining nearby. Including what the waitress did, we received 2 acts of kindness in one early morning. She allowed us to catch up with the couple and give them thanks. I had thought to do the same. Unfortunatuly at the time, tables were occupied by 4 and more diners. We both just didn't have enough money to pay it forward.

On Friday a woman in line had a bracelet on, showing she was at the Women of Joy gathering. I told her, I had thought of going, but the price was higher than I could afford, and I had to work this weekend in the end anyway.

Well, she came back yesterday and gave me a DVD of the program she had purchased. She wanted me to have it. A total stranger! So nice.

Later in the day, I gave an older woman a compliment on her outfit. She looked like she was in her Sunday best from years ago. But it all matched, and she looked so nice... and she had a hard time leaving, cause she wanted to talk.. she was totally floored over the compliment.
