Anyone ever use- their indoor stove for the outdoor kitchen?

We have a brand new stainless stove that we need to either sell or figure out something to do with it because i need a slide in range in place of it do to my backsplash being done. Has anyone ever used their indoor stove for the outdoor kitchen? We are planing our outdoor kitchen and i bet we could find a way to use it some how i just didnt know if it could get wrecked. It will be a covered outdoor kitchen. I saw pictures of outdoor kitchens with dishwashers and was actually wondering how it doesnt get wrecked ... here is a picture- but if anyone knows about anything i can do with the stove let me know, ideas totally appreciated!

Seems to me that it would be a lot cheaper to revise the backsplash than to buy a new slide in range. Having a range outside seems very redundant to me.

Why don't you contact the manufacturer and ask them if the unit you have can be used outside?
I doubt it would, but it can't hurt to ask.

It's stainless steel so what could go wrong with it? Can't rust.

Grice, I checked the instructions sheet back and front and it does not mention anything about winter/summer/seasonal usage. Here is the introduction on the sheet: Spray-N-Grow is the most unique gardening product on the market! It is an organic micronutrient complex made of naturally occurring elements. Anyone know if you can tea-stain indoor/outdoor canvas fabric?

I use Rit Tan for tea staining. My grandmother's instructions are (and they've worked really well for me): wet the item to be dyed. fill washer up with warm water, add Rit (you don't have to use whole box, depending on the gradient of aging you want). agitate to mix. add wet fabric and use wooden spoon to poke it all down. agitate for a few minutes then let it set for a few minutes. use spoon to check on color taking. when done, take fabric out and dry. run a wash of bleach through the washer to clean it out-- and sponge it down. done:-) thanks, grandma!

Bedrock Granite. Anyone ever use it for their Kitchen?

desertsteph, I don't think that's it. If it's what I think it is, it's the one that looks like medium and large river rocks sliced and placed into the granite. What you found is a lovely stone and would look good and not too busy. In this area it is called Black Mosaic. I've seen it in a showroom or two but can't remember which one(s). If you search google images under Black Mosaic granite, you will find at least a couple of examples of it installed. IMO, it is busy, but would be nice if you wanted that to be a focal point. If you want the hickory to stand out, I'd go with something else.

i do not see any reason not to if it fits what you want and like. I just went through the same thing with an outdoor sconce used inside. no problem, you just can't go the other way and put something outside when it only belongs in.

What Ron said, contact the manufacturer. Stainless steel is only the outer shell... Appliance itself must be listed and labeled for exterior use.

@Rackytown This is a year-old post, I doubt you will hear feedback, but to answer your question you cannot use the indoor rated appliance outdoors unless you wheel in-and-out on the handtruck.

Better yet, contact the stove manufacturer and ask them that would be your best bet.

Of course the builder says you can't, they need to sell more product. Just like "you can't use an indoor TV on your patio", but mine's 3 years and still going.

This post was from many many years ago. But I still don't know the answer. I bought a nice used Viking stainless steel 4 burner cooktop that I want to use in my outdoor kitchen. It is under a roof but wind will definetly drive rain and snow so that the range will get wet occasionally. I also plan to cover it when not in use. So.... what is the downside?

I'm not going to call the manufacturer... they'll say "no" and that they make a line of outdoor kitchen appliances. Many years ago I installed an expensive under counter mini fridge. It was meant for indoors but after 6 years it was still going strong. I moved 5 years ago and for all I know it's still going strong.
