Templating: counter overhang and sink questions (Please!)

I am starting to template in preparation for cutting my soapstone slabs. I have two related questions about "standard practice" for sink and countertop overhang.

My understanding is that the front edge of the sink should be 3" from front of countertop. (Right?)

My understanding is that the countertop should overhang the cabinet carcasses by 1.5". (With 3/4" thick overlay doors, this will overhang doors by 3/4".)

However, the rim of my undermount sink is 1.25" wide, and the carcass is 3/4" thick. Thus, it seems to me that the closest I can get between the outside of the carcass and the sink is 2". Accordingly, if I use a 1.5" overhang, the sink will be 3.5" in from the edge of the counter.

What does anyone else (with overlay doors) have? Am I overthinking this? Should I just put the sink as close as I can to the front, use 1.5" overhang, and not worry about the rest?

Thanks!
