I think it's got great possibilities, and is a very useful size. But it will take some effort or $$ to get it looking good. I'd reupholster it in a neutral linen/like fabric and keep the tufting in it. You could put a contrasting fabric on the back; maybe a stripe, and have a stunning chair. If the style and shape aren't calling to you, though, I'd pass it on to someone who loves it. It's a wonderful chair.

I honestly don't think that a slipcover can save it ... it needs to be reupholstered. It is a lovely chair with such graceful lines, and I'm sure there's someone out there who would want to take it on as a project. Do you have "curb shoppers" in your area, or do you think it would just go into the trash (which would be a shame!)?

What a pretty chair! Definately needs to be re-uphostered. And I can understand if it is not high on your priority list right now.

Would you consider storing it until the time is right to bring it back to life? Remember, there will be a time when your 4 boys are grown, and some elegant furnishings will make sense. Perhaps for a bedroom, or an occasional chair somewhere?

If not, I agree with jjam- is there someone you know that would love it? I definately would not consign it to the dump.

It's a great chair. It would be wonderful next to my antique sideboard in the entry, for my DH to use when he puts on/pulls off, his workboots. But........

It needs to be reupholstered as Auntjen said. And if you don't have the interest/money to spend time on fabric AND an upholsterer, then, it is NOT the chair for you. Unless you can do it yourself, it would take at least $200 to get it done. So put it at the curb with a sign marking it FREE. Someone else will be thrilled!

Course, now I'm looking at DIY vidoes. Um, yea..don't think I'm THAT handy. Mostly because of the style. If it was a simple chair cushion, I could maybe pull that off :)
I even jotted down fabric and staple gun on my grocery list just now, LOL.
It really would come out a sore, sore sight (worse then it is) Did I mention it's been in a pretty DARK corner? :) If it was the back that was such a mess, I could toss a throw blanket over it, and be good to go.
I told dh we could just keep in there, and could keep using it as I have for awhile. To hold the towels I pull out of the dryer until I can get to them :)

Maybe I'll advertise "free chair" on craigslist. If I do, promise..nobody post my link on one of those "I can't believe this ad" threads..ok??? :)

that would be the perfect chair to reupholster yourself if you are interested in learning how to upholster. No arms!

Its easier then you think...if you have any desire to teach yourself, it not set it out.

Ooooo, I'll take it off your hands for free in a minute. Because of the simple style I too agree it would be easy to cover. Then again,I'm thinking one of those chair covers they sell at Barnes and Noble or Pottery Barn, might fit the bill. You know the covers I speak of, for dining room chairs. It wouldn't be fitted perfectly, but would look a lot better than it does now. Now if you don't want any of those recommendations, I'll send my address. I love that it doesn't have arms, but has a lot of style to fit in a small space.

It is a pretty chair - I agree w/others - try to do it yourself. I think if you didn't do tufting on the back it may be easier than you are thinking. If you aren't willing to give it a try - then do post on CL but I would ask a fee - that definately has value
