Compost is considered a soil amendment. It is not intended to be a sole planting medium although it can certainly be used to supplement any type of garden or potting soil. But not take the place of :-) Compost is only partially (OK, mostly) decomposed organic matter. It contains none of the mineral components of a true soil so may very well be lacking in certain micronutrients. And because it is only partially decomposed, it will continue to break down over time, compressing and collapsing and becoming waterlogged and impeding good drainage. And because it continues to decompose, it shrinks. You can expect a 25-60% reduction in volume of compost over the course of a full growing season, depending on how "finished" it is to start with. One can encounter all manner of anecodotal experiences about growing plants in less than ideal media - heck, hydroponics grows plants in nothing but water - but it is not always the most efficient or productive method. There is a solidly scientific reason why potting mixes and garden blends were created!

Thanks for the heads up. I am 3.5 hours from there so I sent an email to the ReStore on a few items. Might be worth the drive! I already picked up some great things at our ReStore in Jax.

They also have some (limited variety) of things in clear plastic bags, like little envelopes to stick on pages, the alphabet letters (I forgot to see if it was just one set of letters, and a few other decor items. I'd say the quality of the papers is like you'd find at Michaels or Hobby Lobby. Not heavy cardstock but the decorative papers. I might even get a $1 scrapbook at Dollar Tree and make a scrapbook at these prices haha.

Kathi, The way I went through Bias Tape this past year making dresses I might just use it up in this life time if I live to be an old, old, lady! If not I'm sure the diva child would like to inherit it. I actually had a good bit of my grandmother's and it was shock when I had to start buying it. There was tons of purple, ever who ordered it must have loved purple. The strangest thing is some of it was pre ticket with walmart price tags. The older man who owned this place had contracts with different people to get seconds and over stocks so I guess that's how he wound up with it. Ya'll email me if you need some purple! LOL! Susan
