Christopher Update!

Well, after a long hospital stay, Chris was released today! His father just IM'd me to say they were currently in his dorm room.

He's on crutches for 8 weeks, and I'm sure he's been given a long list of do's and don'ts. His hemoglobin was still low, but must have been ok'd to have him released. His parents remain with him in NC and will for the next few days until they all drive home together.

Chris and 2 friends were supposed to all pack up and drive in his truck back to FL for 10 days before Chris' trip to CO and NM.

Chris and his parents will drive (stopping every hour to get Chris up and walking) from NC to FL, hopefully starting out on Sunday. Chris' friends will then pack up the remainder of his things and theirs and drive his pickup down. He's got a great group of friends and further solidifies his decision to go to a small university. Even his teachers have offered to assist in packing up the dorm room!

I was able to Skype with him this morning before he was released and he looked skinnier and very pale, but seemed anxious to get out. I'm sure his friends are glad to have him back on campus, even if it's just for a few days.

Thank you all for your prayers and good thoughts. He's got a long road ahead but is on his way.

Thanks again,

Barbara

P.S. Our local church has just contacted me and is providing dinners for me, my mom and two other nephews every night until Sunday! It really does take a village.
