Caroma sewer gas plus Studor smell

Help! Our house is 1 year old. Last winter (cold Canadian prairies) we were in the gas chamber for a week, until the plumber came and found the rough in he didn't cap off in the crawl space. We have a structural wood floor, 2 storey house with full basement. Once that smell was gone, we noticed continued smell from a one piece Caroma toilet. The plumber washed his hands of us, and we called the Caroma rep. He came out, reseated the toilet, and all was well.

Now, next winter, we're getting sewer gas smell from the toilet again. I took the tank lid off, whew! Very powerful. There is no water in the stand pipe. When I flush either of the 3 or 6 litre mechanism, a small amount of water trickles into the bottom of the pipe. Is this how this flush mechanism works?

At the same time, we're getting sewer gas smell from the Studor Mini under the kitchen island sink that has the garburator. Coincidence?

The other 2 bathroom, kitchen sink, and basement laundry room sink/drains are fine.

Any suggestions?
