My first symptom is my Kreepy Krawly pool cleaner wont move. The reason is the system is not pulling enough water volume through the pump & filter, says the pool cleaning guy. This is verified by a flow meter, it reads "Not enough". The pump "bowl" is only half full so it seems like there is not enough pull of water into the pump.
The pump is a Hayward Northstar and the locking top spruts just a little water when you shut off the pump. Is that okay? Should that be water tight and allow the "bowl" to fill up?
The filter is a Pentair DE. The pool guy's recommendation is to replace the DE filter inside the unit. Even though there are no tears or breaks in the filter. Not clean it, replace it. Can these DE filter grids become useless after time? The owner of the Pool Supply place said he has never seen that, only if they are torn or broken. It's clean as a whistle after I hose it off without a tear or break.
Any ideas from the community? It cannot be this difficult, can it?
Thanks, BT
