Help with plaster cost?
Comments (8)In my area, SE Texas, I pay as low as 2.50 per sq/ft of surface area for standard white marcite and as much as 5.25 per sq/ft of interior area for PebbleTec. Note, this is builders cost and is before any extras such as benches, sunshelves, spa etc... A homeowner or owner/builder won't get prices anywhere near this. It takes a 100 pools plus annually to get to prices like mine. Pool construction pricing will vary greatly depending on location within our nation and the caliber of the neighborhood you reside. The most affordable areas will be the large cities in the Sunbelt and the highest will be the Northeast and California. I hope this helps you. See ya, Kelly...See MoreNew pool plaster
Comments (2)This will not brush out - what you are looking at is the quality of the cement masons that did your pool finish. To be fair, at night with the lights on you will see every last miniscule imperfection as though it were under a microscope - so have a grain of salt with how this looks. That being said, the pool floor should be smooth and without trowel lines...perhaps you could try to post a picture to provide us with a frame of reference....See Morenew pool plaster
Comments (6)Same holds true for any plaster. 2%-3% ratio of calcium added to a mix acceptable by most of the manufacturers. Anything above that ratio can create a bleed of the calcium through the finish. If the calcium level is low in a pool, the water is considered aggressive because it is soft. To "satisfy" itself it may pull the calcium from the finish to make the water "harder". Scale may occur also. It's also super important to add a sequestering agent upon filling the pool to combat any minerals in solution form and prevent them from becoming solids and attaching to the surface. AKA scale. There are some chemicals to to try to eliminate existing scale to help renew the finish. Sometimes a light acid wash can clean the surface but you have to be careful on the strength of the acid so you don't etch the surface and make it rough. This is why it is paramount the moment the pool is filled to begin chemical treatment and going forward for at least 30 days after to ensure chems are stable and the surface is sound. Most plaster failures are due to chemical treatment....See MoreSmoothest Plaster Finish for New Pool
