can I ask for a good thought???

for my cat, Rex. I don't know if anyone remembers, but I posted awhile back that they have diagnosed him with probable liver cancer, and had 3-4 months to live. Well, he is still here!! It's been 7 months!!

He goes in today for a recheck. I don't think the vet will be able to tell me anything different. But I guess we will get blood tests to check to see if his liver values are changing yet.

He seems to be doing good. He eats, drinks, plays, grooms, and is still enjoying life.

Part of me doesn't even want to take him in, I am afraid to jinx things.

So a quick little good wish for Rex would be much appreciated!!

Dear Rita Mae, my fingers are crossed and good thoughts and prayers are coming your way for Rex. I can identify, my kitty has a growth in her sinus. Not sure how long we will have her with us. Dottie

Yeah! Doesn't that make you feel great! You know your exchange person is going to love it now. Can't wait to see it. I sent pictures of my birdbath to my daughter in college because I needed some positive reinforcement. My son hasn't been happy with my craft since he had to have stitches in his knee stumbling into a bird feeder in the garage. Unfortunately, some grout had come out and left a sharp edge of a dish exposed. Can't convince him it was a fluke and I'm keeping things put away better.

Hi everyone, I posted an update about the Giz-man. I did notice that it seemed to fall to the 2nd or 3rd page pretty quickly.....I guess this place has been busy lately!! He got a shot, some antibiotics to take home, and some kind of oral rinse, which he is not happy about. He goes in next Wed. for a complete dental, all his lab work looked great the vet said, except for elevated white blood cells. She did not rule out that it could still be cancer. So we will hope and pray for the best. I can tell he feels better, and he hasn't pawed at his mouth at all, also when I sneak a peek in, like when he yawns (ha ha ) it isn't red anymore, so maybe, just maybe, we are going to be o.k. ritamay, Milk Thistle is supposed to be really great for the liver, check with your vet if it would be okay for Rex to take. One of our kitties has mild liver inflammation (side effect of IBD) and our vet put her on something called Denosyl, which is also Milk Thistle derived.

Good thoughts for Rex. I'd feel like you. Why go looking for trouble if he's doing so well? But, again, you can't ignore the fact he did have trouble before. I hope things are just fine.

Oh, I have high hopes for Rex! Our cat Roughy beat the odds himself and lived for several more good years when things looked grim, so I know it can happen, RitaMay.

I'm crossing my fingers for you both.

Hi everyone,
We are back from the vet. She said that she thought he looked pretty good, but has lost some more weight, so based on that, she is still pretty certain that it is cancer that we are dealing with.
We did a full blood panel on him to check his liver values, as well as his thyroid and kidney numbers too. (he is also hyperthyroid and has Chronic renal failure). So the next step is hoping that those still look o.k.
You know, I can't complain, he is still here after 7 months. It's more than I though I would have with him. Of course. I am still holding out for that miracle that Flamingo spoke of with her cat!!!

Rita, Rex is sure a beautiful cat. When will you know the results of the tests? I hope there is some positive news.
