Fridge magnets and new paneled fridge: ideas?

This might be one of the dumbest questions ever asked here, but once my fully integrated (paneled) Sub-Zero fridge goes in, my fridge magnet collection becomes obsolete. Granted, this is a minor issue with all the other kitchen remodel hoo-hah going on, but I was wondering if I could find a magnetized board that could be installed inside an upper cabinet door. Has anyone done this? I envision this as a way to quickly access grocery lists, etc., while keeping the inevitable clutter out of sight. Other ideas welcome!

Do you have free wall space? My plan is to get a piece of sheet metal cut and mounted to a wall in my kitchen and use my cabinet trim pieces to frame it out so that it looks neater.

Not a stupid question....I didn't want to get rid of my magnet collection either. Some of them are sentimental!

I painted the inside of my pantry cabinet door with magnet paint. That's where my magnet collection is now. It would also be fairly easy to just get a piece of thin sheet metal and mount it to the inside of a cabinet.

Answering my own question. Ha. Model came out in early 2012. Found out it's the french door sitting at 29 1/2" (plus 1" rear vent or 30 1/2") that are 36" in width, the fridge case or box itself is 35 5/8". Needs 1/2" side panels minimum. Might just work as current fridge side panels are 5/8" on both sides. Electrolux refrigerators have wheels for easier sliding.

If you really want the dispenser AND panels, I would put a special finish on the panels (I'm assuming they are made of wood) so that finish and wood won't be damaged prematurely by any dripping water. The finish that will hold up is Smith's Clear Penetrating Epoxy Sealer and Epifanes Marine Varnish. Panels are not just to make an appliance "disappear;" they are simply an alternative finish. I would prefer a paneled fridge, because with my other colors and finishes, I don't think a white or black fridge would look good. Stainless would look fine, but I absolutely do not want to have to polish fingerprints off it constantly. So I plan to panel my fridge. That said, only YOU can decide if the form and aesthetics are right for you. I have seen paneled fridges with dispensers in several kitchens in my magazine collection. I don't think it looks good, but then again I don't think dispensers look good. The panels on the SXSs are small and broken up and look tacked on. But obviously the homeowners must have really wanted the dispenser. I keep a Brita dispenser on the top shelf of the fridge and do not mind opening the door to dispense the cold water, especially since it flows much faster than a built-in dispenser. These are all options you have to weigh and consider what matters most to you.

Need help deciding on panel next to fridge or not

With Cabico, we got a 28 in panel and an 28 in deep cabinet. It was a little extra, but we thought it was worth it. Esp. since our fridge is at the end of the run, I like the look we ended up with: My sister has a similar setup (also Cabico, 28 in panels and 28 in cabinet) with a 24" pantry on one side and regular upper and lower cabinets on the other side, and it also looks very nice in the context of her layout. I really like having the cabinet at 28" because it makes it SO much more accessible (much easier to reach up above the fridge than up AND over). BTW, you might want to ask your KD to double-check with Decora. In our case, there were a couple of items that I wanted (customized pull-out door, and spice pull-outs in upper cabinets) that our KD said "Cabico doesn't do that". I asked her to check with Cabico while she was calling about something else, and they told her "sure, we can do that"! As good as KDs are, they may not be aware of all the "extras" that a certain cabinet maker can do. And, FYI, all you really need is the 28 in panels. A 24 in cabinet can be installed forward 4 in, by building up behind it (and you won't really miss the 4 in in the back!).

We hung a large "bulletin board" in magnetic stainless steel for an angled wall next to our kitchen -- this holds greeting cards, photos, DS' report card, & other memorabilia. Using magnets instead of conventional thumbtacks keeps whatever we're posting from being damaged by pinholes.

We put a smaller magnetic marker board in our drop zone for a message center. This holds reminders, coupons, date sensitive items, shopping lists, etc.

If it's going inside a cupboard door, wait for "back-to-school" season and visit some place like Target for locker decor.

We had metal sheets installed on the insides of two pantry doors. Love having them there, but those two doors have warped pretty badly these past two winters (they went back to "normal" in the spring last year, so I am hopeful they'll do so again--soon!). Don't know if it's the glue that was used or the metal itself causing this to happen. Here are some pics for you (taken with cell phone, so not the clearest photos):
