Ornithogalums??? Oh vetivert, you are bad, but Ornithogalum is the first thing that comes to mind when I think of spring chores and getting to work outside, usually in late Feb. Now I realize my question could have and should have been phrased a lot better. How about this? If the Bulb Forum members would submit their (own) pics of plants and blooms grown from bulbs for a new forum picture, what should it be? . Should it be open to anything grown from bulbs? Should it maybe exclude such things that have more 'specific' forums of their own, such as Lily, Tropical, and House Plant? Should it be an individual bloom, or as you suggested, maybe a still life flower arrangement of numerous delectable blooms grown from bulbs? Please 'scuse me for just having tunnel vision and tunnel thoughts of just Daffodils. At any rate, the folks who are having their spring now, can hopefully be trying to get some great pics. Ok...so when does anyone think we could/should start taking picture submissions? Should we wait until late 2010 so glads could be included by those in the US who grow them? Should we wait a full year (or nearly) so the members down under have an opportunity to have another summer blooming season, like for glads? hmmm...what is fairest? I guess before proceeding, I should check with the 'Powers that be' to see for sure if they would be willing to get the pic changed and updated with a pretty pic of our choosing. I hope lots of folks will give their input and in time, post their pics for entry. In doing a search here on the forum, it seems that Tulips and Daffs are the 2 things most often posted about. I imagine though that tulips are most frequently asked about, due to them having problems, or emerging early, or for not blooming a second season when they are thought to be perennials like daffodils. Claudia, My DH's brother and my SIL didn't care about their ancestry either. Then, a couple years ago my SIL's mother passed away & a couple months ago I got a call asking me how to get started researching her genealogy. So, you never know. People get interested for such a wide variety of reasons. Now, my BIL and his wife are headed to Wales in June to vacation & do some research on DH's family that I've asked them to dig up. BTDT, my experience with the accuracy of LDS info has been poor, at best. There's stuff on LDS's website pertaining to my family that's just not true. My grandmother's name is even wrong. There is a German-Russian Historical Society that has been working with the Russian government for over a decade now & their work is invaluable for researchers. I never would have found the Russian professor if not for the GRHS. Time will tell on the LDS project. For now, I'll wait & see how they document their information. Here's a couple pictures of 'Family Ties', the book on Mom's genealogy. I wrote well over a hundred articles for the book describing the history behind the people. A bunch of dates and places don't really tell the story of a family. I wanted to make the story come alive. I wrote the Introduction last believing it would be a slam dunk after all the research. Wrong. It took 3-4 months & ended up 31 pages. rofl Revolutionary War (I used various flags depending on the war) Just an example of an article and picture of a family crest. There are over 200 pictures... In order to make Dad's book come alive I decided to write a short novel as an introduction to the nuts & bolts of the genealogy. I used my grandfather's life as the foundation. I thought this book would be substantially shorter since I cut off research in 1767 but it's going to be close...I'm about 640 pages now & unfinished. It's hard to stop. Fortunately, binding contraints impose limits or you end up with multiple volumes. lol /tricia

Well, I know that my Great Great Grandmother was a Spanish Marquesa. A Marquesa is one step below a Duchess and one step above a Countess. My Great Great Granfather is Edmund Stephenson and he is the one who got the railroads up and running in Mexico.

George Lopez the comedian has a talk show. He was slamming Kate and he actually started a website "keepkate dot com" He wants people to vote for her JUST because she is so horrible and to keep humiliating her on tv. She is horrible. Even she has to see how bad she is. I read that everyone gets paid a fixed amount, no matter how long they last on the show, so she shouldn't be getting richer the longer she stays. Neicy is very funny!
