If you're going for accents in silver then I would lean towards a silver type rod as it will blend better with the drapes. I think a woven blind in a medium to dark brown would all wonderful texture and pick up the tones in your rug. Love all your choices and you did a great job on the moulding. How are you feeling now?

I agree with yayagal. Here is a mock-up I did quick with silver and gold rods and a medium brown bamboo. I like the silver rods better.

In terms of the bamboo- I was thinking more of a dark brown to tie in the floors. What do you guys think? If I go dark brown should I do an ORB rod? Also will hang the shades same height as the rods (above window not in window). All your thoughts and opinions are very important!

Don't kill me, but I don't think the brown leather sofas will give you the look you want. Maybe use one sofa with two chairs?

Oakleyok- they are actually a dark grey! They photography differently than they actually look and they are here to stay. I kind of regret the color, but I can't do anything about it now. They are brand new and UNBELIEVABLY comfortable. I'll need to design around them. I still need to put a chair in the other corner. Still looking for one!

It's amazing how easy it is to say "go with that rug" or "choose this, not that" with other people's things, but yet I agonize for months on my own home!

I still think I'd go with the silver.

It looks really great so far. Love the table, curtains, crown moulding. I, too, think that the silver/chrome rods would go well with what you have and a medium brown blind. Still think you need another pop of color (green, aqua, blue, pink?) Perhaps you can add it to the picture you're planning on replicating. Can't wait to see your progress, which is very inspiring!

nosoccermom - I agree that it needs something.. it feels a little 2 dimensional.. that's why I wanted to add the gold in with hardware and accessories, hoping to add a different dimension, but maybe its just overkill. I'm scared to add another color, because I'm not sure how to incorporate it properly and I'm worried I will mess everything up. I need ideas on how to add dimension and interest to the room and I'm taking all ideas i can get!

I love everything that you have picked so far! !! The rug is fabulous, I love the curtains, and that picture is just perfect with the colors. All that you have selected adds a nice airy feminine touch to dark leather sofas! Ill chime in that I also like the silver curtain rods. Have you considered something with a "beefier finial? Almost similar to the legs of the table? Would that be too much?

No fancy photoshop skills here...I wish! Just a lot of cut and paste in MS Paint. I had a job in college where they took all games and Internet access off computers so during down-time I amused myself with creating art in Paint. There was a lot of down-time. :) Glad I can help.

As for adding another color. Try finding a piece of artwork that has your colors plus a couple more. And then add a pillow, vase, candle, or something in one of the colors. You can change which accent color you want to highlight by switching out accessories.

Looking forward to seeing everything put together; I think it will look gorgeous. I, too, favor the silver curtain rods. Where did you find the curtains; my daughter is looking for something similar.

You already have a teeny pop of color in the yellow vase on the table. You may want to improvise when doing the painting and add a pop of yellow there too. Then perhaps find a very large decorative bowl in yellow, actually the bowl you showed would work as the gold is in the yellow family. When you purchase the third chair which would look nice in a tan or gray, get a nubby textured throw and fold it to put to one side of the back. Texture adds warmth to any room. You're doing great! Love the dark blinds.

Regarding the finials, my problem is that I have 12 inches on one side (between wall and window), and 9 inches on the other side (between the other wall and the other window). I thought that maybe going WITHOUT a finial would give me more space to hang "higher and wider"? What are your thoughts?

yayagirl & geokid - Re: accent color. I'm currently sitting in this room having my daily décor lesson from Candace Tells All, and what strikes me about all her rooms is that they are so beautifully layered. There is never one color that sticks out, or a "scheme" - she just manages to layer everything to create one harmonious and beautiful look. I agree that I need another color in there to not make it look too "matchy matchy", and I need to add a few more textures in there to help create that look (maybe a wicker basket, some bamboo, more wood accents). In terms of another color, I was thinking maybe a deep aubergine here and there. I'm really trying to create depth and interest and I have NO design background - this is my first space. Here are some more ideas I had to help add that - please add your own thoughts - it is so helpful!

Being a Vikings fan, I like the aubergine and gold color scheme. But I know you won't make it look like NFL purple and gold. :-)

The ikea table would look cute next to your future chair. And the natural table would look nice next to the sofa. It would bring that texture to that side of the room since you are going to go with a natural texture on the windows.
