Hi, We have a small boiler set up to control my heat in our Greenhouse Utility room using a Taco controller and Taco pumps now. I am using a simple Honeywell thermostat to monitor and control a zone with radiant heat floors in the Utility room. It is connected to the Taco controller with 2 wires. We now need a way to monitor and control 2 water reservoirs using the same Taco system that will use radiant pex to heat those reservoirs. We purchased 2 Insteon Wireless Thermostat with water proof temperature probes. We also purchased 1 Insteon Thermostat that will send the on/off signal to the Taco controller. The Wireless thermostat will connect to the non-wireless thermostat via RF remotely. The standard non-wireless thermostat is a #2441th and the wireless is a #2441zth. The #2441th that will connect to my Taco system has the ability to connect 2 #2441zth wireless thermostats. The #2441th has the ability to control heat 1 and heat 2. Is this for heaters with 2 stages or could this thermostat control 2 separate zones. I have contacted Insteons customer support but they are saying I need an HVAC tech to help me with the connections. I am hoping that I can use 1 to control 2 zones because they will allow 2 wireless thermostats to connect to it that are in 2 separate places in the home. If not then I may have to purchase 1 more thermostat to be another controller. Any one that can help it will be appreciated. Thanks

Most are simple bi-metallic and they either work or fail. Contacts occasionally get pitted and damaged but at 240 volts it takes a lot of damage to make them stop closing. If you are no longer getting as much hot water as previously, a bad element is a distinct possibility. As they scale up the internal temperature in the element increases, leading to failure. The elements are easily tested.

A thermostatic valve will automatically adjust the mix of hot and cold water to maintain the water temperature you have selected. If a nearby toilet is flushed, the flow of water shouldn't change noticably as the valve simply adjusts the mix of hot and cold to maintain the desired temperature and flow rate. A pressure balanced valve works differently. It adjusts to maintain equal pressure on both the cold and the hot sides. If the cold water pressure suddenly drops because someone flushes a nearby toilet, the pressure balance valve will automatically reduce the hot water flow to match the cold water flow and thereby prevent a dramatic increase in the temperature of water flowing from the showerhead. When this happens, you may experience a sudden drop in the flow rate until the cold water pressure again rises. A thermostatic valve is able to increase OR decrease the flow of hot and cold water passing through the valve. In doing so, it maintains temperature and flow rate. A pressure balanced valve is only able to reduce the flow of water on one side or the other if the pressure on the opposite side suddenly decreases. In doing so, it will decrease the flow of water passing through the valve.

Anything is possible Crystal so yes t-stats often go bad same as other components. You are asking us to solve things that someone couldn't solve while laying hands on it. Adding to the near impossible task,you aren't giving much information for us to go on. Statments like "My ac never froze up" and "copper pipes outside are cold and wet like they should be"are misleading at best,outright inaccurate at worst. I don't have time to win debates and aurguments in order to answer questions for you. Get a different tech to look at it.
