Order of Selection - Granite, Cabinet Color, Backsplash , Tile ?
Comments (10)My remodel is planned for mid April and I chose my granite first since that is something mother nature creates and we can't put our color order in with her. I have also chosen Typhoon Bordeaux but I haven't found my lot yet. Every slab I have liked has been sold and the ones available have been with the large rusty streak through it. I have someone looking for me now. Choosing cabinets is where I am at now and the color choices are limitless. My backsplash will be something we do after cabinets and granite are installed as I agree with previous poster that now you can bring home samples and see it in your own kitchen lighting throughout the day. Yes, it will take a little more time to finish the project, but it's a large detail that will impacts us daily and a little time now vs. regret later is well worth it. My two cents worth. Good luck in your project and keep us posted. I love these boards!!...See MoreWhat counter goes with a marble backsplash?
Comments (13)erika - Im surprised your Carrara was less than the soapstone or granites. I'll have to check into some pricing around the area. The maintenance issues scare me a little, but it looks so gorgeous. I would like to maybe atleast incorporate it somewhere in the kitchen. nomoreblue - I love your kitchen! I wish I would have bought those dang tiles on Ebay when you did. Is Dorado local for you? The jet mist granite looks nice. I havent had a chance to look at all the others. How much does soapstone normally run per sq foot? I need to find out if anyone in Ohio carries it....See MoreAnyone with a 2 inch backsplash or no backsplash?
Comments (21)Hi. We installed out kitchen in 2012. We still haven't chosen or decided on a backslpash - it's the painted wall. I have a creamy Egyptian marble, - don't remember the name. I like unstructured European vintage-y kitchens. Many of them don't have backsplashes either. My stainless range has a stainless backsplash directly behind it. I had picked out some mini-clear glass subway tile for the backsplash that coincidentally matches my Prescott Green paint color perfectly but what if I decide to change wall color one day? Just this week I started thinking maybe I made my backsplash tile decision three years ago which was to have none. Our marble installers tried very hard to discourage us from marble in the kitchen but I have not regretted it. All those kitchens in southern Europe can't be wrong. FYI - If you are considering glass backsplash look at a product call 3-Form it comes in an amazing variety of colors, textures and imbedded items, two good friends used it in their kitchens. http://www.3-form.com/ Do what speaks to you in your home. Comments (37)When I first pulled up the Red Dragon slab online I thought it was beautiful and very bold. I think we are so conditioned to go with neutral that we often dismiss what we really like. I like the Red Dragon with the dark gray square tiles that Jodi did above. It's beautiful and classy and compliments without competing with your gorgeous countertops. The stainless also sounds gorgeous, but I definitely understand about budgets. Whatever you decide, I'd love to see it when it's done....See Moreblfenton
