This year we lost our sweet Pekingnese, Ming. What a sweet bundle of joy he was.

It has been a very hard year. We lost our beautiful sheltie, Beauty, our super smart sheltie, Sawyer and our Queen of the House cat, Motley. BUT we gained our lovely Lady and our inquisitive Indy. Life does go on when we let it. Happy New Year.

We lost 15 years old Maddie two weeks ago tomorrow. She was a sweet shy petite grey tiger cat with huge green eyes. She was the most beautiful kitten I ever had.

Tonic -- 1998? - 5/19/2007. He was only 9 years old and had cancer of the jaw

Lyla -- 1994?-4/3/07. I found her dead when I came home from work one day. The vet guessed that it was a heart attack.

My devoted,loving companion and friend.

She died after a long and courageous battle with hyperthyroid disease, cardio-myopathy and CRF. She was extremely cooperative with all her medications. I think she 'knew' it helped her. She had an unbelievable will to live.

She picked me when I went to the SPCA 18 years ago to get my very first pet as an adult. She was barely 6 weeks old.

She grew into a gorgeous, slinky black cat who was solely and exclusively devoted to me. No one could touch her or handle her except for me. She trusted me implicitly.

She will always be missed and forever in my heart.

My other kitty has been diagnosed with Lymphoma since Sabrina's death. So, I may be losing my other kitty this week as well, depending on the oncology results.

It's been a very sad December.

Here is Luke the best mouser ever. He loved to nap in the tall grass by the garage on a summer day. We got him about 9 years ago from the shelter, as an adult, never really knew his age & he died last winter. Run, jump, play & hunt my friend. Terri{{!gwi}}

we lost our Choc lab Hooch on Nov 6th. i let him and Beau out in the back yard for their after dinner run. he got out and was run over. i guess he was chasing a rabbit, cause he was so far fromteh house in a direction he never went. i always expected Beau to be the one to get run over, he would go straight to teh road any chance he got, hooch usually would not get within 15 feet of the road, we had trained him not to go near it. but somethign made him forget and it cost him his life.

please, NEVER allow ANY animal to run loose. everyone thinks it won't happen to their dog, but it can happen to even the best trained ones. I will be glad when i get the new fence up this summer, i don't trust the old one anymore and now i walk Beau on his leash even in the fence.

Linda, and everyone else, thanks for sharing your photos and memories. This holiday season has been very hard for me as I miss my old girl who left this past year. So I'll add my beloved lab (and part rottie) to the list.

We lost our lab mix Hooligan this November. He was such a happy good boy. He just wanted a pat on the head, and to be a part of the family. I got him from a shelter, when he was about 4 months old. Before he went blind, he lived to chase tennis balls. He had SARDS, and then a brain tumor.

Emmhip--Our Maggie also had SARDS and then was also diagnosed with a brain tumor five years later that took her life.

We lost our old hound dog Wyatt last spring. He was with us for thirteen + years. We believe his spirit is still around, teaching our new dog his old mischievous tricks.

I'm truly sorry for all the losses here. I lost the little life that came into mine . I had lost Hobbs to cancer and then my mother. There was not much joy in me anymore till Suki. I stopped a aspca here just on a feeling ,and there she was .This beautiful med-h grey tabbie. she played very coy with me peaking from her cage while all the other kittens all wanted my attention. She had picked me. She thought she was ms monroe with her attitude . She gave me back my joy .But it was onlying fleeting .She crawled into the dryer when my dh turned his back back and shut the door. being dark in there and all turned it on . We rushed her to my vets but had to euth. her .We buried her with our other lost loves and I had again to morn a loss ,she was 3
I could'nt face another loss . But 6mos later Meiko entered our lives . She was under a rabies watch at my job which is my vet. I was'nt going to look at her ,but again that feeling came .She is a orange lh tabbie and was just a lb. and scared . I felt sukie telling me it was time to move forward . Today Meiko is 3lbs and has the same attitude as beauty queen . I miss Suki she came at a time I needed her .But I believe her job was finished and it was her time to move forward to. I miss you Suki where ever you are..........

I had to put my special girl to sleep in March. I still cry when I think about her.

Beautiful Julien, our huge Maine Coon, died last fall. He was 20 lbs, a mostly black tuxedo. He appeared on the front porch 6 years ago, at about 5 years of age. (What kind of person loses a Maine Coon?) He was my cat, slept on or next to me every night, followed me around, trilled to me. We were soul mates.

My dog Jett, who had to be put down on Dec. 17th. He was only 2 months past his first birthday.

I'm reading this getting sadder and sadder - what beautiful pets and tributes - sorry to those of you who have lost a beloved pet this year- I'm going to go give mine a big hug...

First off, I would like to send out my condolenses to everyone here who has ever lost a pet. I think this is one of the hardest things to get over. I just hope that all of our beloved animals are running & playing together at Rainbow Bridge. :)

We lost our Choc. Lab., Coffey, on Oct. 27, 2007. Me, my St. Bernard, Bailey, and Coffey had went to my parents house for Sunday dinner which is an every week occurence. Coffey loved to go there to play w/ Molly, my parent's black lab. I was sitting inside that night & heard a thud then Bailey barked & I immediatly knew what had happened. I went out but didn't see anything & didn't see Molly, so hoped I was wrong & the 2 were just off playing somewhere. I couldn't stand not knowing after a couple of minutes, so went back out & yelled for Coffey. Molly came walking up w/ her head low (I think she knew what had happened) and I knew Coffey had been hit. I took a flashlight & shined towards the road & the light hit his eyes. That sight is burned into my memory & still haunts me to this day. I burst into tears & my dad carried him to the house, but it was too late. I sat w/ him as he took his last breath and my sweet, sweet dad made up a casket for him the next day & buried him for me. I had a stone made for him that I've attached.

He was almost 14 months old & so full of life. He was happy to see anyone & loved everyone. He was Bailey's best friend and a wonderful companion to me, my DH & Bailey. It was hard going to bed without telling him goodnight that night, and waking up w/o him lying next to me the next morning; I'm still not completely over his death, but know he's watching over us all. Bailey mourned him for at least a month afterwards, but has now healed.

We have since received a new puppy. He's a Beagle/Cocker Spanial mix and his name is Patch. I truly believe we were meant to have him & wonder if maybe Coffey had a hand in it. I chose the name Patch b/c feel that he is our little patch to help mend the hole Coffey's death left in our hearts. I hadn't planned to get another puppy so soon, but my neice got him as a Christmas gift & couldn't keep him, so she left him w/ her BF. I couldn't stand to see how he was being treated & finally broke down & took him.

I have also attached a pic of him w/ my St. Bernard. My mom says it looks like Mutt & Jeff.

Again, to everyone: I'm sorry for all of the losses in your lives.

We lost a family member in 07', My furry brother in law, Cassidy. He was a big Cocker Spaniel, dearly loved by all his family and deeply missed. I remember the first day I met him; it was my 1st date with my now wife. He greeted me(just a puppy then) and immediately urinated on my new shoes. This became a tradition for him from that day on. He stayed the night with us many times, and joined us on vacation twice in the mountains. Our Cocker, Casey spent her first evening with us at his house, and always got excited when we told her we were going to see "big dog". We all gave him a proper burial, fit for the great friend he was, and laid him to rest beside the walnut tree he loved in his yard.
