I freeze ripe bananas and use in smoothies. I also like to put Nutella on banana slices and just eat that way or toast an English muffin, top with Nutella and put bananas on top.

I grew up eating sliced bananas with sugar and milk for breakfast.

Later, I learned sliced bananas, with sliced strawberries was delicious as well, for breakfast.

Yes I really like bananas. I have one almost every morning for breakfast. I put a sliced one in my oatmeal or on toast that is spread with peanut butter. If you cut the tip off the bottom of the banana and peel from the bottom, you don't have to worry about the strings. If bananas get over ripe I just throw them in the freezer and later make banana nut bread.

I love bananas and eat one almost every day. I like them ripe to riper with little flecks of brown. I also peel, wrap in plastic, and use in smoothies when they get too ripe. Yes, I destring them. Love banana cake, like Monica with cream cheese frosting. No on banana splits, don't really care for ice cream. I just made a thai banana cole slaw with peanuts, peanut butter/milk/mayo sauce, dash of hot pepper flakes, red pepper, and then add in sliced bananas right before serving. Haven't tasted it though, since I am on a diet, but couldn't resist the recipe. I'll serve it to family at dinner, let you know what they think.

I think if you peel your banana from the bottom you will not have strings.

I don't have a camera, but here's the recipe.

THAI-STYLE BANANA SLAW WITH PEANUTS

1 package (16 oz.) coleslaw mix
3 green onions, thinly sliced
1 large red bell paper, cut into thin strips
1 cup salted peanut halves
one third cup light mayo or miracle whip
one quarter cup creamy peanut butter
one quarter cup milk
1 tbsp. packed brown sugar
3 medium-ripe bananas, sliced
crushed red pepper flakes (optional)

Toss together coleslaw mix, onions, bell pepper, and peanuts in large bowl. Stir together mayo, peanut butter, milk, and brown sugar until well-combined. Add to salad: toss well to coat. If preparing ahead, cover and refrigerate salad up to several hours. Stir chopped bananas into salad. Serve with crushed red pepper for extra spice, if desired. Makes 10 servings.

I just bought 20 of them last night. Local store had them on sale. Banana bread is something that really appeals to Kalie (preggers DD) right now for her breakfast. I make little mini ones and she will take one to work, mic it for just a little bit and eats it. I had sent 6 with them last weekend...but she is out. So...I picked up the bananas, now we just have to wait for them to ripen!

If I freeze them...will they 'ripen' faster? I freeze them when I have some that have gotten too ripe...but not sure if there is a way to quicken their ripening. ??

LOVE bananas! I freeze some for smoothies(No alcohol) or to make banana bread later. Put one in Dh's lunch every day. Eat in a bowl with milk & sugar. Peanut butter & banana sandwich(Southern thing).

I adore banana splits. I also love banana cream pie made with real bananas and cooked vanilla pudding. I love banana bread spread with either peanut butter or cream cheese.

I love cooked plantains, but I have never made them.

Hummingbird Cake Recipe

Cake

* 3 cups all-purpose flour
* 2 cups sugar
* 1 teaspoon baking soda
* 1 teaspoon salt
* 3 eggs, beaten
* 1 cup mashed banana
* 3/4 cup vegetable oil
* 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
* 1 (8 ounce) can crushed pineapple in syrup
* 1 cup chopped pecans

Frosting

* 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
* 1/2 cup margarine, softened
* 1 (16 ounce) box powdered sugar, sifted
* 1 teaspoon vanilla
* 1/2 cup chopped pecans
Marachino cherries to decorate the top with

1. Cake--------------------.
2. Combine flour, sugar, salt, and cinnamon.
3. Add eggs and oil, stirring until flour mixture is moistened (Do not beat).
4. Stir in vanilla, pineapple, pecans, and bananas.
5. Bake in 3 greased and floured 9 inch cake pans at 350 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes or until a wooden toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
6. Cool in pans completely.
7. Frosting------------------.
8. Combine cream cheese and margarine, beating until smooth.
9. Add powdered sugar and vanilla.
10. Beat until light and fluffy.
11. Spread between layers and on top of and sides of cake.
12. Sprinkle pecans on top.

I like bananas but don't like the coating they leave in my mouth. I eat them occasionally, but only if they are on the green side. Cooked is OK, don't like the strings at all. If they're mushy, I won't eat them and I've never had any luck freezing them for later use.

I like all things made with banana and the slaw sounds wonderful. I would use a dash of cayenne, instead of flakes, though and I'd chop the peanuts.

When calories didn't count, i would get a hot fudge banana sundae supreme from Dairy Queen. Mmmmmmm, so good, but as the years went by they would get smaller and smaller and the price would get larger and larger. Dottie

Love bananas, eat them raw at least once a day. Lunch on many days I have a banana sandwich. Mashed bananas with little Duke's mayo. Have eaten this since I was a child. Not sure if the banana sandwich is a southern thing or a poor thing. Must say that favorite is banana pudding.

I love them any way as long as there are no strings and only if they are getting speckles on them. A not so ripe banana is icky to me. Not long ago in Publix, I saw frozen banana slices. Now please tell me who doesn't have the time to slice a banana?
