Opinions on low-cost neutering at Humane Soc.

OK--this is my first post here, so please be gentle!

I have a 6 month old buff tabby cat and a 6 month old Standard Schnauzer puppy, both male and ready to be neutered. If I take both to our vet, it will cost over $400 for my two pets to be neutered. On the other hand, the local Humane Society runs a low-cost spay/neuter clinic and will do the neuterings for a grand total of $90 for both boys.

Both kitty and puppy receive regular vet care, are up to date on their shots and have no known health issues which would add to any standard risk of surgery. What am I missing? In other words, can someone tell my why I should NOT take them to the low cost clinic to be neutered?

Thanks so much and look forward to hearing anyone's opinion/experience.
