Thin Pavers over River Rock Deck?

We have an older pool with a cantilevered slab and river rock deck. Plan is to re-plaster with new waterline tile, and then put thin pavers set in sand on top of the river rock deck using an extended bull nose coping, thin-set in place, to cover up the old face tile on the cantilevered edge. The outside edge of the pavers will butt up against the pool cage.

We also have an adjoining area under a roof next to the house which has tile set on a concrete slab. This area is separated by a drain. The plan is to raise the drain level with the new pavers, thin set the pavers on either side of it, and then continue setting the pavers in a light bed of sand on top of the tile up to where it meets the outside walls of the house.

A few concerns. When cleaning, will hosing down the pavers cause the sand between them to move and build up at one end? What about where the pavers and sand meet the house wall? Here the exterior sheeting is plywood, Texture 1-11. I'm a little concerned about the pavers and sand butting up to the wood and trapping moisture. Rain would never reach here, but when hosing down the pavers, water might.

Has anybody done this sort of remodel? Problems, things to consider, thoughts? Any suggestions appreciated.
