Picture, .. LOOK! My asian pear

In SNOW! LOL

I've already mowed twice, everything is GROWING it's been sunny (well, off and on) and now it's snowing again! I LOVE snow, so it's cool! (no pun intended) But I'm not sure my fruit trees like it this late! lol

taken 40 minutes ago... now there is NO GREEN to be seen! all white!

i sure hope that beautiful tree survives all that white stuff and why haven't you rescued that poor puppy...LOL...(our female carries all her toys outside too...i make a trip around the yard about once a week to gather them back up and throw them in the washer!)

Kat, that sure is pretty. I hope it's a snow that will melt real soon before damage is done to things that are blooming. Is it supposed to warm up soon?

I agree with rayrose, if you worry about the rose being affected, you want to move it away. The pear tree won't really be bothered. It usually depends on the size, the bigger plant will have a larger root area. So the pear may be only competing with the rose for the nutrients over 10% of pear's root area while the rose is competing with the tree over 100% of rose's root area.

is it your opinion that it was not worse than normal .. or is there some scientific basis for said presumption ... out here near ann arbor.. we had a z4 winter in what is normally z5 ... THIS MAKES A BIG DIFFERENCE TO various plants ... i have always had trouble with peach ... and why a cold winter would affect one of the 3 will be left to the garden muses ... regardless.. i doubt its bug related.. or anything else.. other than winter damage .. but you really never know ... on top of all that.. forming of buds.. with subsequent failure.. usually indicates a frost or freeze.. and yes.. it can hit only some plants in a given space .... a picture would be worth a thousand more words of speculation ... keep it well watered.. and hopefully it will recover ... ken

Snow is cool? Kat, you just amaze me with your schmartness! lolol

Those pics are awesome. Is the snow going to ruin the blooms or is it just a shortlived blizzard? :-)

I hope there's no damage to the tree.

My dog likes to take my shoes outside and leave them. He has a shoe fetish I guess.

While we only had a snow shower up here in the Comox Valley, Vancouver Island....I heard that down island in Nanaimo they had about 1 foot of the white fluffy stuff. I also heard that they're (ummm not sure exactly who they are - lol) predicting one of the coldest summers in many many years for us.....brrrrr!!!

LOL.. welll, I went up to West Seattle to see my Daddy (it's his birthday) ON the way up I had to change from my regular glasses to my prescription sunglasses and back again about5 5 times! lol ws sunny up there, and starting to snow when I left. All the snow is gone from here now, a little cold though.

DS's girlfriend called, they are playing baseball at home, and she had to call and say that DS got another home run, and that she was wearing shorts and tank top! lol

Kat....we are about an hour south of you. We had 4 inches yesterday and got up to find about 2 inches this morning. The flowering plum that line our driveway and our magnolia that were bloom were covered with snow. The snow, sleet, hail and rain the past couple of days have just about knocked all the blooms off the flowering plum. I'm sure the magnolia blooms will suffer. It was freezing here this morning. I know the county north of Seattle got a lot more snow than we did. Last weekend it was 84 here and this weekend all this snow. Go figure. LOL

strange, huh? about an hour after I posted, it started snowing agan! we got another inch, but it was almost gone this morning! lol
