F&P drama finally coming to conclusion

After more than a year of dealing with a leaky F&P CD FD refrigerator, the first few months spent in repeating my story over and over to randomly picked customer service representatives who answered my calls, F&P is *finally* going to refund me my money and what I paid for the surround kit. Taxes included.

Shipping is not.

I was so upset about that! After all I've gone through with them and they wouldn't reimburse shipping. Makes me want to chuck the refrigerator out the window from the eight floor and be done. :) But of course, I wouldn't get my refund, now would I?

I came here, to these boards, more to vent than anything. I'm so upset about this refrigerator not working. The one wall of our kitchen was designed around the dimensions of this refrigerator! Now I will be left with gaps around what was supposed to be a built-in refrigerator (look) with the surround kit added. I never got to use the kit, granted, because the refrigerator never stopped leaking, but I had high hopes.

I can't even begin to express the frustration I feel. Steam is coming out my ears. Yet, I'm trying my best to be calm. Now. I wasn't very calm when the representative told me they wouldn't refund shipping charges. When I mentioned going to court, she told me she felt threatened. I dunno. Why should someone feel threatened when they've done everything to satisfy the customer? I'm not satisfied about the shipping charges not being refunded. I wouldn't have had the thing shipped to me if I'd known it was a lemon. And not just that one, but the next one I got as well had the same leak problem.

They even messed up our hardwood floors, though to their credit they are acknowledging the problem and asking for estimates.

I'm rambling now. Thanks for letting me blow off steam. My nerves are just shot over this. I don't guess there is any more than I can do to grant me satisfaction. . .except maybe an old-fashioned lobotomy. (Bad joke. Trying to get my humor back. Sorry)

Yikes! Sounds like you've been through ALOT! I'm glad that there is a little bit of a resolution, but you still are bearing the brunt of their problem.

Remember, it's better to have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy. Less permanent.

I had the same frustration with my F&P oven...No damage to the house, but after replacing one, they decided not to do it again and refund me instead. I'd gotten the original oven at a good price from a distant store, so the $400 shipping was part of my calculation in the savings...But when they 'refunded my money' I got, of course, the 'good deal' amount I paid, and not the shipping, so it cost me $2000 to replace the oven with a similar oven of another brand. It stunk. I bought an oven and paid a decent price, then, out of no fault of my own, was without, and also without the amount of money it took to replace it in today's market and with today's dollars.

I'm not looking to fill my day with internet drama, but I will chime in to support Rouge who, when viewed across all his contributions to this forum, is clearly a valuable contributor who is certainly not looking for a fight. Others here, not to name names, find themselves in conflict with some regularity. When viewed over time, this same character is the one with drama, accusations, and feelings hurt. I feel bad for her, because that's not a nice way to go about one's day, and I doubt that's her intent. I fail to see any real conflict in this thread other that what was self-generated. People live in different places, have different weather and different priorities. No news there. Lots of threads, topics, and individual posts don't apply to a particular person's situation. OK, no news there either. Just because there is a big discussion about something that does not apply to you does not mean you are excluded. For example, someone could start a thread about a topic that is germane to them if they want to gather like-minded opinions. So I just don't see the cause for a dustup. However, I understand that internet communications are difficult. And clearly feelings are hurt, and so I offer my empathy for those involved in that. It really does ruin your day. Hang in there folks - go out to your amazing gardens and breathe in some delicious air and remember why we are all so passionate about gardening in the first place!

Oh Pat, talk about a Murphy's Law day. Wouldn't that be nice to update your "chassis". I won't even talk about the 8 week old dachshund my son adopted and then went on a trip for 4 days and then delayed coming home a day and this hard headed puppy refuses to learn how to potty train in my still year old carpeted house. Wasn't the fact that I had his kids also for a couple of extra days plus another grandchild from up north for a full week also to entertain. It was the puppy that had to be watched 16 hours a day when he wasn't in his kennel. Now son is going on ANOTHER 5 day trip a week later and puppy STILL isn't potty trained, hard headed little %@*&)$$. I gave son a lecture about responsbilitlies and he's 30. He got the puppy for his kids, I want a puppy, I'll get one.... I have a 10 year old lab with a fractured knee who did that a month ago, slowly getting better. I am cutting my own trip short 2 days because of my dog's need for meds 4 times a day and because of the heat and he has a 4 inch coat I can't shave him down like we usually do in the summer to cool him off, because he can't stand long enough on his feet to do so. I have a friend staying at the house while we're gone to let him out every 5 hours during the day because it's supposed to be 104 on the 4th. It's too hot to leave him outside. During the night it's ok. Anyways I'm leaving on the 2nd and back on the 4th and when I come back, son's leaving, I don't have to watch his 2 kids while he's gone, just his puppy!!! I told him he better come back on time this time too. You can tell I'm still ticked off from the first time, LOL* Oh! I'm going over to Arroyo Grande to my Mom's, it's her 78th birthday and I'm going to sneak in an ice cream pie:) Dad will disapprove, but Mom wants it, LOL* I may have to bring it from the valley on dry ice though... Dad bought her a sleep number bed:)

I think your husband needs to stop telling his sister things that get back to your MIL. Your business is private and nothing you say or do should be told to your MIL because she obviously takes that information and figures out ways to use it against you. Also, it would be very enlightening for your husband to hear both sides of a story in a way that he cannot refute. Have him listen in on a conversation with his mother but don't let her know he's listening. Then when she calls him to complain about "how you mistreated her again", he'll see that she is exaggerating everything. Men are fixers. I'm not the least bit surprised that your DH wants you and his mom to get along and that he thinks 2 weeks is enough. Men don't typically hold grudges or over-think things like women tend to do and I think he thinks it's been long enough. (I had a problem like this for years with my late MIL and the day DH figured it all out was an amazing day for all of us. lol She went off on him and opened his eyes forever. BUT, in 2 weeks, he was over it and things went back to almost normal. She was his mom and he wasn't going to cut her out of his life forever, even though she deserved it. She also never apologized or admitted fault, but he knew.) So my feeble advise- never talk to MIL again without a witness in the room, or if it's a phone call, have someone else on the other line, listening. Have a little voice recorder in your pocket if your words are constantly twisted around by her, until your husband sees the light. And avoid her as much as possible if the 2 of you are unable to come to an agreement. Let DH take the kids to visit her, but be careful because she may try to use your kids against you and she will bad-mouth you to them in ways that are subtle but effective. Good luck. I don't envy you at all. My MIL is gone now and my life is a lot less stressful. When she was alive, I was so thankful that I didn't have children for her to corrupt, like she did her other grandkids. Because we had no kids, I was able to remove myself from her drama and lies.

Thank you all:) It was very very VERY scary for me saturday morning. Jonathan acted so calm but after we were sure everything wwas OK he broke down crying. Even though he wasn't saying so he thought I was miscarrying he was just trying to stay calm for me. He later said he was glad Latla was fine but was more terrified for me than anything. It was without a doubt hands down the most terrified I have ever been and him seeing me so upset and scared really did a number on him. They determined that the blood vessel had already popped earlier in the week and the clots had formed and stopped the bleeding. The sex dislodged the clots and the bleeding started again. There will be no more sex. It scared us enough that we don't even want to risk it. This happened once earlier in the pregnancy but the bleeding was very light. It was NOTHING like this. I was literally dripping on the floor on the way to the bathroom. All I can say is thank god it turned out OK. As far as the girls mom is concerned I guess all we can do is watch her like a hawk and hope she eventually gets help. We will continue to do as much damage conrol as possible in the meantime. The woman looked like death warmed over. She was painful to look at. She's going to wind up either over dosing or finding enough courage to drag that knife across her wrist a little deeper. I am sick for the girls right now.

You know - you should consider yourself lucky that you're getting a refund for the fridge, trim kit, and probably floor damage. Consider the shipping a minor annoyance and don't get so worked up about it. I've occasionally been stuck with shipping charges on things that didn't work and had to be returned. Many people on these forums have had much worse resolutions to their issues.

I don't think luck had anything to do with SDionne's refund...I'm guessing it took hours and hours of phone calls, Emails, frustration, and persistence on her part. I wouldn't discount what she's been through (I just went through the same with a Miele DW).

Congrats on getting this far. At least you can look for a decent fridge now.

Thanks, warmfridge and all. Yes, there were many hours of frustration and aggravation involved in getting to this point. I appreciate that you didn't discount that part of my journey. When you are in a new home, it only adds to the frustration when something is not working as it should. Ditto for a remodel. And the money we often get back is less than the total cost spent in time, money, and stress.

I'm looking at a Samsung refrigerator this time around and definitely keeping my fingers crossed!

I didn't mean to imply that you hadn't worked hard to get your refund or that you weren't entitled to it, just that many other people in similar circumstances aren't so fortunate as to get most of their money back. Sometimes, you have to cut your losses and move on.

Interestingly enough, I bought the refrigerator from Gochenauers Applicances in Lancaster via ebay. After winning the refrigerator and GA contacted me, I then asked that the dishdrawers unit and surround kit be added.
