When I did it, I had to re register, there must be a easier way! Kathy

Last month I emailed iVillage using the "Contact Us" at the bottom of the page and Tamara on this site. I asked them how to change a username but they never answered. So the only way I can think of doing it is to register as Kathy said. But if your email is already registered to your user name you can't register - it will say 'this email address is already registered.' So that means you have to create another email account.

Hi pfckce, You would most likely need to create a new account to change a user name. In the other forums I belong to I had to change my user name once and had to contact an administrator of the forum, so I could continue to log in to that forum.

Go to 1) Your Houzz in the upper right corner of your screen 2) edit your profile in the upper right 3a) under Profile Information I have for my First name (publicly displayed): NHBabs 3b) under Profile Information I have for my Last name (publicly displayed): z4b-5a NH Kind of silly to have to do that, but I guess if this forum's main thrust in the past has been the inside of one's home, the zone didn't matter. I hope that they add this option to the publicly visible information requested when one registers since otherwise we will have to prompt about always having one's zone and location information visible to all newbies.

I can't change my name to add my zone. Houzz in its "infinite wisdom" has decided you can only change it twice a year! I had a lot of trouble getting in to my account and ended up changing my password -- which again Houzz has now decided that it must contain symbols as well as letters and numbers, It dredged up a very old account name and stuck _gw on it (for garden web). Getting to Houzza help was impossible for me. Sorry for the rant and being off topic, but I've not been happy since garden web joined up with Houzz. Just finding Name that Plant is difficult from Houzz's main page.

I honestly don’t think listing your interests will make any difference to your user experience. It isn’t possible on the website version and I can’t say I’ve ever missed it. I’ve never wanted to find out anyone else's interests by looking at their profile. One’s interests and/or expertise are clear from which forums one frequents and the content of one’s posts. There’s a Bulbs Forum if you want information about hyacinths. There’s no Hyacinths Forum because that would be a very tiny and limited niche. There is a Begonias Forum because that’s a huge field. They’re incredibly varied and widely collected. ETA I’ve looked at your Begonia post and your plant is a Hibiscus, not a Hyacinth. Very different. There is a Hibiscus Forum.

I've never had any luck with it. When iVillage took it over, they got rid of some of the upper cases in some people's names, so now everyone thinks my name is Joann.

If I have to re-register, I will do that. I remember the last time I changed it, it was very easy, but that was about 3 years ago.

I am changing it because my son is no longer a Texas State Trooper. He is a local police officer here in NJ.
