This recipe, with slight alterations, will work for most any mammal or bird.

Peanut butter Animal Cookies for all!

Set oven on 375°F to preheat.

Ingredients:

1 egg

½ cup milk (or substitute with water for birds)

½ cup peanut butter (preferably organic as explained below)

¼ tsp. cinnamon

Dash nutmeg

¼ cup oatmeal (preferably steel cut as explained below)

¼ cup grouts (groats?)

¼ cup corn meal (Omit if allergic to corn products, substitute with ground nuts or flour)

½ tsp lemon juice

2 tbs honey

1 cup whole wheat flour

Materials:

1 large mixing bowl

1 small mixing bowl

1 baking pan

Wax paper

Rolling pin

Beaters

Mixing spoon

Measuring cups

Soft brush

1. Separate your egg. Pour yolk into large mixing bowl and pour whites in a small mixing bowl and set that aside for later.

2. Add your ½ cup milk or water to your yolk. Beat until foamy.

3. Add your ½ cup peanut butter (organic is better because the oil separates and itÂs helpful for slicking your baking sheet.)

4. Put in your ¼ tsp. cinnamon and a dash of nutmeg. Beat until low for two minutes or until well blended and smooth with no chunks.

5. Add your ¼ cup oatmeal (steel cut is better because itÂll add a crunch and an interesting texture) and your ¼ cup groats, and your ¼ cup cornmeal or substitute for cornmeal. Mix.

6. Squeeze out ½ tsp. lemon juice. ThisÂll help preserve your cookies and the freshness. Mix.

7. Take your 2 tbl of honey and heat it in the microwave on high for 30 seconds so that it liquefies and distributes evenly into your batter. Pour it in. Mix.

8. Add your 1 cup flour. Stir until well blended, until it forms a stiff dough.

9. Sprinkle flour on a sheet of wax paper and on a rolling pin.

  1. Roll a ball of dough on the paper and press it down and sprinkle with flour. Turn over and repeat.
  2. Roll out your dough to a thickness of about ¼ an inch.
  3. Cut out shapes or bars into whatever sizes or shapes youÂd like and place on your baking sheet, preferably coated with your organic peanut oil. Keep reforming a sheet of dough until youÂve used it all up.
  4. Take your small mixing bowl with your eggs whites and beat for a couple of seconds. Dip your brush into the whites and coat the cookies.
  5. If you have it, press a peanut into each cookie or top with some cinnamon powder or other nuts or such. Remember to watch out for dried fruits that contain sulfur dioxide. And then brush a layer of egg whites over your decoration to seal it.
  6. Place in the middle rack of your oven. Cook for about half an hour.
  7. Let your cookies cool and theyÂll harden. Serve and watch your petÂs mouths water!
