Carsick Kitty

We travel with our pets almost every weekend. The trip is about 1.5 hours and both Indy and Lady LOVE the destination (lake house). The problem? Indy gets very carsick. She likes her carrier - gets into it willingly and is very calm until the car starts moving. She does not vomit, but cries constantly and then gets diarrhea after about an hour in the car. As soon as the car stops, she is fine.

We have tried 1) no food for 2-3 hours before travel, 2) timing our travel so we leave right after a litter box visit, 3) covering the carrier completely so she's in the dark, 4) playing only her "favorite" music - nothing has worked. We would like to think that she may eventually outgrow this, but it seems to be intensifying as she gets older. We do not want to leave her at home.

I know there are mild sedatives out there that we could probably give her. I'm looking for any ideas that you might have to help ease her carsickness and soothe her as we travel. (She's 5 months old, if that helps or makes a difference in your suggestions.) Thanks in advance for any help you can give.
