My Kitchen Was Nominated for an Award!

Hi All,

Our architect submitted our kitchen for a design contest. They have a "People's Choice Award" where you can vote for the best kitchen. Mine is project #48! Considering so many of my ideas came from folks here in this forum, I wanted to ask nicely if you would consider voting for my kitchen?

In case you don't recognize my user id, here's a shot of my kitchen:

Full disclosure - there is a $2,000 prize for the winning entry. I wouldn't get this money as it goes to the designer, not owner. If it were up to me and I won, I'd be distributing the prize money around here since so many of you provided great ideas and helpful feedback!

The entry process requires you to provide your name and email to prevent multiple votes from one person, but Clarke is a reputable company that won't send you spam... totally understand if you don't want to register though!

Lastly, as a bonus each kitchen has 3 photos so there are some really nice kitchens you can peruse for inspiration! Enjoy!

When you search kitchen photo on google, that should be the 1st image to appear.

thanks all, and please Oreos-mom, visit a few dulcimer builders before you by one. I love my Dulcimer and yes, they are easy to play. But, you need a decent one to start with. Most of those sold to tourists in PF are junk. I live very close to PF. Heads up on the difference between Dulcimers and mandolins, Dulicmers have little or no neck. Mandolins have necks like a guitar. It takes 20 years to get good on a guitar (or mando) but you can get great on a Dulcimer (I've proved it) in two weeks.

Tl good seeing your kitchen again. I start to drool each time I see it. I love your Viihara back splash. I really wanted it to work for my kitchen. Love seeing your drawer interiors. Don't you love having containers in your drawers! No more avalanches!! Is your dish drawer 39 or 42? I am still dealing with my too heavy 42 inch drawer so have an extra pegboard in the basement. I am hoping to use it again once the drawer is resolved. Can't wait to see if your GC wins! And to see the professional pictures. Thanks for sharing your exciting news.

4th of July gave the first blush so far. Fruit size is just a bit over twice the size of a golf ball. For the larger ones the jury's still out on that. All of plants have fruit set now. For medium slicer Bush Goliath is looking like it may. Though Black Prince gave the first ripe ones last year. A few that set on the lower portion of Bush Goliath. There are twice as many hiding in the upper foliage.

I'm happy to support your kitchen. I didn't look in detail at all the kitchens, but yours was my favorite anyway. Congrats!

I voted for your kitchen. It's gorgeous! I also looked at most of the kitchens on there. Isn't it funny how the contractors and fabricators say not to use marble in the kitchen, and how the majority of the award-winning kitchens have marble??!!! I'm using marble, btw :)

Hi Ginger25,

My cabinets were made by a local cabinet maker in Norwood, MA. The company name is Rodgers Cabinets. The finish was custom, but it's pre-cat lacquer sprayed onto the wood. The color was made to match our existing trim color throughout the house: Benjamin Moore Ivory.

Your kitchen was definitely my favorite, and I looked at all of them!
If they can change anything at this point, I would put the money shot (the one you posted here) as the first one that comes up when you click the small photo. I know it's the same photo, but it's small. I would eliminate the shot looking towards the dining room. If not, you will win anyway with all the GWers on your side! It's truly a masterpiece.

How exciting! I haven't made it through all the nominees yet but so far (and I'm sure this will remain the case) your kitchen is my favorite.

Did anyone notice the (presumably stuffed) bear on the floor below the bar for #27 (2nd photo)? I did a double take! I'm sure there's a story behind that! (And don't you want to know it?)

Thanks to everyone who voted for us! While we don't stand to gain anything personally, it would be fun to say we have an "award winning" kitchen!

I must admit some of the competition is pretty daunting... did you see the breakfast / dining area in project #23? Stunning! Also, as Lisa_a points out, we don't have any stuffed bears at our place... lol!
