Loads of new Gallery pics

Please don't reply to this thread until mid-afternoon. That will allow it to stay up top a little longer, to give everyone to have a chance to see it. Thanks!

I just put 56 new pictures in the dining room thread in the gallery. I expanded the DR thread to include some closeups of chandys, sideboards, and some tablescapes. It also includes dining in the kitchen, and out of doors. If it's dining, it's fair game to go in there.

I also put 40 new kitchen pictures in, and like with the other threads I'm now including more closeups of areas I know matter to us all.

You will also find 45 new living room pictures.

If you missed my earlier post, the Home Offices thread now includes pictures of libraries, workrooms, craftrooms, potting rooms, and now also home theaters. It's a bit of a grab bag because room for new threads in the gallery on page 1 is extremely tight.

I try to include all sorts of styles and colors, and pictures that are remarkable in one way or another -- something for everybody.

I use the gallery room threads to find lots of answers to questions like what color schemes look good, how do I hang a grouping of pictures on the wall, what sort of wallpapers are popular now, what kinds of curtains should I hang, what do people put on top of their coffee tables, what kind of lighting could I use, what kind of centerpiece could I use on my table, and countless other questions. I hope you'll all turn to the gallery often, and enjoy.

While you're there, don't miss the color threads. They're very helpful if you're trying to figure out a paint color.

wigardenerwannabe, For years I have picked up frames whenever I would see them cheaply. I have a stash of empty picture frames and when I have enough for spot I pull them out. Sometimes I rummage around and look for ones w/ dings and scratches and ask for a discounted price since the piece is damaged. Then I just take a black sharpie and hide the knick. My frames usually come from TJ Maxx, Marshalls, Ross, Wal-Mart and IKEA. I always like things to fit into a perfect little box so all of my arrangements are even w/ nothing hanging out on the ends. That's just my personal preference for me. I often admire those gallery walls that I see that are uneven but I like symmetry 95% of the time. Often I will use my DR table as it is a long rectangle and just start laying out frames until I get a look that I like. If the arrangement will be larger I use the floor. I stopped using a tape measure and level a long time ago because when you buy cheaper frames the hooks on the back are rarely in line. I'm pretty good at eyeballing things and have usually been able to just start hanging them one by one w/ minor adjustments on eveness as I go. We'll see how badly that goes when I attempt a grid above my fireplace. And now thanks to my friends at GW who told me about 3M it will go much faster from here on out! pps7 - the wall color is BM Jonesboro Cream.

Each time I took a break from painting today, I used the time to enjoy the pics in Gallery. Really awesome collection!

It was a wonderful treat, and thank you so much for putting so much effort into the gallery. I found quite a few favorites that I've put into my personal file for future inspiration. It's a great resource to have the gallery, and as far as I can see we have you to thank for the bulk of it. I really appreciate it.

Ingrid, great! That's a great way to use the files, to save the pics you like the most to your own file and use them for future reference when you finally get to "that" room. That's how I started out, just collecting my favorites. Then I expanded it to share it. I enjoy scouting and saving the new pics, and sharing them with all of you, and at least it's a little payback for all the help I've been given here.

You're welcome! I should update more soon, as several "rooms" have slid to page two.

Question: Should I bother to keep up the baby and kid rooms ones any more? I don't personally have an interest in them and nobody else here ever bumps them. Space on page 1 of the Gallery is SOOO premium!!
