Comments (4)I have laminate in the kitchen and adjacent family room, but Pergo, from the Elegant Expressions line. We previously had old Pergo which was indestructable, but not nearly as pretty as the newer lines which have more depth and texture. We have been really happy with the new floor(since April this year). We also are on a slab and have large porcelain tiles in the foyer - make sure your tile installation is on a slip sheet (I think that is what they called it) so that small movements in the slab don't crack the tile (we are in southern ca - earthquake zone)...See MoreAnyone actually have laminate in their kitchen?
Comments (17)I've had laminate in our main home for the past 5 years. Small kitchen and dining area. I wouldn't even think about the what if a water break. Any flooring is going to be damaged by water, except maybe a slab home with concrete. We had hardwood previously. As much as I really liked it, I made a bad choice by having those danged beveled edges. A cleaning nightmare. I also have a large dog (Rottweiler), and he loves to exit via the patio door in the dining area. No marks what-so-ever on the floor. As far as cleaning, it's about the easiest thing to clean. I don't recall the brand I installed. In my previous work career, I was a certified installer by the 2 top manufacturers of laminates but didn't use either of their flooring simply DW liked the pattern of another brand. If you decide on laminate, just purchase decent quality. I have yet to hear anyone complain if they have decent quality. If they have, it's usually because of improper installation....See MoreAnyone have a photo of room w/ Valore Plank Roma - laminate floor?

Comments (10)Hi Brittany, OP here...sorry I didn’t get back to this post earlier! I ended up going with a laminate also. I liked the color of the Mannington but I couldn’t get past the softer feel of the floor. I also visited some flooring forums where people had issues with the vinyl planks buckling in areas that received a lot of sun during the day. When you do research online it’s so hard to know if these types of issues are widespread or just anomalies! I kept looking... After amassing a ridiculous pile of flooring samples in engineered wood, vinyl and laminate, I kept coming back to a Pergo laminate called Riverbend Oak. In the end, I weighed the cost of laying vinyl planks against the fact that I really didn’t love the way it felt underfoot and decided to go with the Pergo. This particular kind is not their waterproof product but it has held up very well. I have two dogs and one child tracking lots of snow into the house this winter and I haven’t had any problems. I have it installed in my living, dining and kitchen spaces. Laminate is still a good option, IMHO. Hope that helps! Riverbend Oak Pergo laminate...See Morealabamanicole
