Help! Need Duostrainer advice tonight-chrome or stainless???
Comments (4)jess111, I don't remember seeing SS there at HD but again, I wasn't looking for one. Although, now when I think about it, there was another kind, perhaps bronze? Anyway. I did not see it at Lowes or Menards though but maybe your stores have little different inventory. Perhaps you should go to HD, see what they have and how you like it. I don't know how prone to scratches it will be but my old sink had regular cheap PC strainer and it looked ok. Not the best, the whole kitchen was a mess, but ok enough I wouldn't worry about it. I guess it you have a lot of heavy pans like cast iron etc. and use them very often, the scratch resistance may be more important to you than to me. I cannot compare those two materials as I've never had a sink with SS strainer but all PC strainers were good enough. You may check the manufacturer's website for your sink and see if it comes with a strainer or call the granite place directly. My understanding is that most sinks come without one (I guess just to make us make one more decision)....See MoreAnyone have Kohler Sea Salt or Cane Sugar sink finishes?
Comments (7)Hi Sanjuangirl! I got your email but the reply I sent bounced back to me. Here's what I wrote about my sink: I love my kitchen sink. It is indestructible, I believe-- no chips, no stains, no scratches. I can't imagine anything putting a dent in that thing. The only thing I would change -- if I had a magic wand -- is the center drain placement. I think I might prefer it to be toward the back, or in a back corner like my last sink was, but that is a very minor thing in my book. The Cane Sugar is very creamy colored, and the Sea Salt has more white/grey, I believe. I started off wanting an apron front sink, but was put off a bit by how much more they cost, and not being sure they were as sturdy. (The ones that I liked were beautifully carved on the front or with some design.) I also wondered if they would be dated in a few years -- even though they are style that has been around for a long time, they are very trendy now. Best of luck with your space! Comments (56)I don’t think the Stages comes with a colander, at least it didn’t when I got it. It does come with a large wood cutting board, large white tray/cutting board, small tray/cutting board, 6 ceramic prep bowls, bottom sink grid, and under counter rack. The prep bowls are well designed to both stack and be reversible, although I mostly use them with the larger size up. I like the square design because it’s easy to use a wood spatula to scrape out the contents. The bottom grid hasn’t been a problem for me. You do have to lift it up or take it out to clean the sink, but that outweighs the advantages of being able to set things on it to drain and the fact that it protects the bottom of the sink from scratches. I do wish it was in two pieces so it would more easily fit in my dishwasher. It is so big that I have angle it to get it in and it’s hard to load other items around it....See MoreKohler SS sink scratched from grid feet upon delivery-help.
Comments (14)I had exactly the same thing happen — twice — with a 29" Kohler Strive sink that I ordered from Amazon. It arrived with scratches underneath one of the feet of the sink grid. The entire sink grid which was encased in bubble wrap and sitting inside the sink when shipped. But when I looked closely at the bubble wrap, there were little tiny bits of steel debris that were embedded in the bubble wrap underneath the foot. I assume the weight of the grid caused the bits of debris under the foot to scratch up the sink while it was in transit. Sent the sink back to Amazon for a replacement — then the replacement sink arrived with scratches under even more feet. Amazon, thankfully, took both sinks back with no complaints. (If I'm paying $600 for a sink, it should show up without scratches.) Ordered the same sink from Home Depot — third time was the charm, and it showed up in pristine condition....See Morejulie94062
