Who has used Yoga Toes...............

They are toe stretchers. They are suppose to benefit people with bad feet, they say they help align toes. I wonder if they work, I could sure use them.

Juse wondering if anyone here has used them and if they are worth the money.

They're the things that fit between the toes and spread them out, right? I've been looking at them too, think it would feel good.

I had to go look them up to know what you were talking about. Now I remember that I had thought of getting them at one point, but like you, didn't want to experiment at such a high cost....$49.95 for a pair. I'll be watching this thread along with you.

Sammy, another option you might explore is to look on-line for DVD's for beginner's yoga, which has the more basic exercises but will still give you a good idea of what it's about and also give your body a nice workout. The poses look so simple but are actually very effective, and great for improving your body's elasticity and tone. It also really helped me a lot when I had a herniated disc years ago. What I like about it is that you can see yourself progressing as you master the poses. Even in the beginning, when you're not that flexible and can't do the poses as well as you'd like, your body is still getting a workout. I didn't take a class because it was so much easier to make time in front of the TV whenever I had the inclination, without the bother of dressing, driving etc. But obviously there are many different ways to approach this, and having a teacher in the room with you works for many people. Hi Jennifer. I've been doing yoga for several years. Living out in the boonies, tapes and books were my only options until last year when the local rec cen offered classes....taught by a woman who had learned from tapes herself. I started with Hatha, then started adding power yoga. Practicing either will help you strengthen, releive stress and improve your posture. But for me, I had to add the power yoga in order to see any weight loss. You may not need to. How do I feel afterwards? Both relaxed and energized. Just good. The benifits are immediate, which makes it easy to get off your butt then next day and do it again. The long term benifits are also worth while. Balance, flexability, coordination and better reflexes to go along with those long, lean muscles. Last summer at a family reunion I challenged all my little neices and nephews (ages 3-16) to a 'stand on one foot' contest. I am 39. They hopped on one foot, had their arms flying all over the place and droppped out one by one as I stood perfectly still, my left foot raised up and pressed into my right thigh. They were flabbergasted, as were my siblings. I was smug. I also offered $5 to any of them who could "sit like me". But not one of those strong yung'uns could get themselves into a full lotus position. That was fun, but there are every-day benifits that are more important. Time was, I could not back out of my long driveway with my seat belt on. I had to move up off of one buttock to turn enough to see that far behind me. Now it is not a problem. Ever slip on ice, jerking your body in a failed attempt to stay on your feet? Your backside and pride may hurt from the landing, but that jerking reation can wreak havok on your back and neck. Better balance and reflexes help you stay on your feet and strong muscles protect you from injury. It's also a good idea to learn how to fall properly. Something to keep in mind: Those people in the tapes, they have been doing this stuff for years. Decades maybe. Don't force yourself into any of the poses. They will get easier. It is not important that you can put you head on your knee, it is important that you feel the stretch or the contraction where you are supposed to and keep your breathing slow and even. I have quite a few tapes and have barrowed several from the Family Video (they have free 'public service' tapes to loan out including many excersize videos) Some instructors are really hung up on keeping your back perfectly straight during the poses. Others encourage it, but also ask you to round your back to stretch it at certain points in the tape. Still others are not overly concerned about it, telling you to work with your body and if your body says round the back, round it. Decide for yourself. No two yogis are alike. Right now I am doing Pilates, with yoga as a warm up and cool down. I am really liking that becuase it really is working my ab and back muscles more than yoga. Although yoga does emphisize these areas, HOW you hold those muscle is different in Pilates and IMO, works better for that area. Hope this helps. Kay.

Jen, Pooh would probably still need a better quality shoe just so the orthotics aren't made useless by a shoe that won't hold up to the weight and stress put on it. I mentioned above, about the Carolina boots that fell apart after a year or so, and then were replaced with the Red Wings. I kept them around for a few months before I finally tossed them. I was going to put them on just to go out on a wet day, and even though I thought they were still wearable for comfort when I quit using them, my foot shape had gone back to what it had been before, and trying to walk in the old boots made my feet sit crooked on the floor. My wife had the orthotics made for her when she was diagnosed with PF and the shoes she had were SAS. They did help a little. She finally started wearing Birkenstocks on a regular basis, and most of her problems with PF are relieved. Pooh, I'm not sure if you find boots uncomfortable because of a higher top around your ankles or if your feet get sore because of a cheap insole. I've bought cheap boots from K-mart that were good for about an hour before my feet started killing me because of the hard insoles and poor design. Except for the two pair of Red Wings I returned, every pair of that brand has been comfortable for all day wear. If you can find a Red Wing store near to you, I would suggest at least trying them on, even some of the lower cut styles. Red Wing still has a good reputation for service and quality, something you won't find with a cheap Walmart shoe, and they will help you fit them properly. Good luck to ya. GG

Lascatx, how long were your toes and foot swollen? I spend most of the day in bed and I think this morning I could tell the toes felt better. Until I did a load of laundry about an hour ago, had to water plants so I carried them one by one to the sink and back. Oh, and I cleaned the counter tops. DH does the dishwasher but he's allergic to cleaning by hand. :) Now several of the toes are throbbing like crazy, so next time I have a lengthy chore to do, I'll put the boot on. I bought an amazing pair of garden shoes a couple of years ago that I keep next to the bed and I wore those to the doctor's office and noticed they were nice and firm and have a thick rubber sole. Putting the boot on takes forever and I cannot bend much because of the hurt quad. I just noticed Amazon sells this memory foam leg support and elevation pillow. That's what I need! Rae, I don't think it's a ligament issue, which is a sprain which I've had before. I don't think I told this funny story above, if so, please forgive me. Monday nights were mom's bowling nights and dad was in charge of me and I brother. One night we had a couple of friends over and were playing hide and seek in the basement where you can run to home base before you're caught. I ran in and slid on purpose like a baseball player and sprained the heck out of my ankle. Dad took me to the ER, they said to start soaking the ankle. He brings me a large pot of water, and it was HOT water. LOL My ankle probably doubled in size. Lower back now has a bit of pain, not the usual back pain I get. Sitting in a chair makes my toes hurt.

You cannot walk when YT are on your feet. You have to be sitting or in bed.

I like YT alot and my toes/feet feel great afterwards. Glad I got them.

I was in a yoga class once and the teacher had us do that toe spread thing with our fingers inserted between all the toes.

I get manicures and pedicures pretty regularly. When I get my feet done, the nail person wraps a long piece of cotton between my toes. Feels good!

Do you think they would work with short stubby toes? I wonder how much the shipping is, probably another $10. Have you looked on ebay?

I have the Pampered Toes version, and really like them, they did feel a bit odd the 1st time I used them. I got mine at the local Grocery store, but have seen them at many Target, and WalMart type stores.

They are made by the ped egg, you may find them at any drug store for about $10 no shipping! I may just try some.

I got the Pampered Toes at BedBath&Beyond for $10. I didn't like them at all! APparently my toes are small and I had to really shove them into this thing. I pictured it feeling good to stretch them out. Nooo. It was just uncomfortable. I tried it a few time, but gave up. A massage at my pedicures feel MUCH better!

I have some. I got mine off of Amazon.com I like them. You only wear them for about 20 minutes at a time to start. They make my feet feel better after using them.

Mine are made by "Healthy Toes" and they're listed as size "S" (small). I wear size 10 ladies shoes. They are blue in color. I also ordered the visco-gel toe spacers and wouldn't recommend those.
