Not exactly a Caribbean sunset, but I thought they were pretty. There's more to the old town than "The Office." :-)

wine-maker, there isn't much prettier than seeing those clean mow lines in the grass on long runs and healthy green leafs on all those trees. What will you do with all that fruit?-besides making wine, of course. I still haven't figured out what I will do with mine (whenever I get it), besides cider and giving loads of it away to family and friends. Bob, currently I am in the process of mulching whole rows. that will make it way easier to lay down tubing without the worry of mowing over it or burying it. I am in Wisconsin, so I will have to pack it away every fall and roll it out every spring (at minus 30 plastic tubing is extremely brittle.) It won't be fully automated, instead I will put a post at the end of each row with a hose connection and a splitter before that so I can turn on four rows at the same time. With 2gph emitters that's about the max I can run anyways. Otherwise it takes me about 4 hours to water everything by hand. For some reason I seem to be an advocate of doing things the hard way, maybe to convince myself I'm not lazy. I am 33, but my back is telling me I better start finding easier ways.

Cameron I remember seeing a tall full Coreopsis or Helianthus at the NC Botanical Garden, in the section with all of the phlox -- can't remember the name, sorry -- that may be a good replacement for the yellow Echinacea. Shari the noid daylily is beautiful. The recent rain missed us too. Some things are starting to look stressed again. Babies on front porch (seedlings and divisions) I don't know what to do with the Canna Musifolia. Anybody want? Volunteer sunflower Four o' clock. I also have a salmon/ coral four o'clock that doesn't really fit in my garden. Anyone interested? Euphorbia corollata Bayse's Purple

Tequila Sunrise and Pretty-N-Pink are maybe in the process of being registered. Still Ten English pounds is a lot of moular to some (and me). Tequila Sunrise is lovely. Pretty-N-Pink has a minor fault only visible to Tolumnia purists. Had a look at Orchidom previously and was impressed. Closer to home and you do not have to worry so much about the guardians of the gates. You might have to be careful with âÂÂclonesâÂÂ, are they talking about Mericlones which are usually more expensive than seedlings. The other big advantage is growing conditions. The Caribbean is probably Tolumnia Heaven. Three clones of Tolu. Alyshia showing the variation you sometimes get from the one compot of seedlings which in this case means produced from seed. The crossing is Shannon Elizabeth x Sizzler. Sizzler was registered by Robert Perreira. Tracking the ancestors of a cross will usually find an ancestor registered by Perreira or Moir. I really enjoy the different moods that sunsets provide. They're kind of like women. Wildly unpredictable but in a terribly exciting and inviting sort of way. ;) Thanks for sharing your pics, Joan.

Nice! I miss the beautiful sunsets you get in PA.

Do you live in Scranton? I was born there (I live in Washington state now), and I still have family all over the area. I'm sure you must know some of them. :-)

Lovely! Is "The Office" a really big thing in Scranton? I would think it would be. It's my favorite show BTW.

No, I don't live in Scranton. I'm out in the country, about 25 miles away.

Yes, The Office is a very big thing in Scranton. Some of the actors, etc., came to the city for an "Office party" last year, and they had a huge turnout. I still haven't seen the show, but many of my friends love it and I'm sure it's only a matter of time until I check it out.

Thanks for looking!

Susan- Was that the ridge with the wind turbines? I can barely make out the upright posts but I can't see any blades at the top.

We've only driven through that area during the day so we've missed those glorious sunsets. Your photos are wonderful.

Nope, the wind turbines are in another direction. I drive past those every so often, and really should take a picture. I remember my son took one from atop his 120' tower. The windmills were at least ten miles away, but they look like they were in our backyard. If I can find it, I'll post it.

I just looked it up in the library catalog, and Season Two of "The Office" is available to borrow. I'd rather start with Season One, so I'll check around. I love good comedy.

I left the area long before I could appreciate the beauty of a good sunset but let me say that I absolutely love the fall foliage between here and Scranton. I always make it a point to drive up to see my parents when it's at it's peak. I'm not sure what New England must look like if I get so excited about fall in PA.

I love The Office. It took me a while to warm up to it but I love the way they try to fit the 'real' Scranton into the show instead of just using the name. It's not 100% accurate but I appreciate that they try.
