Scranton sunsets (3 pics)

Not exactly a Caribbean sunset, but I thought they were pretty. There's more to the old town than "The Office." :-)

Ok, here are my newest "baby" pictures, these were planted on April 12, and just sprouted the 16th. Cherokee Chocolate was the first to come up, with an Aker's West Virginia in the back right cell and a Crnkovic Yugoslavian beginning to peep above the starting mix in the back left (it was planted the 13th, from 6 year old seeds, so it is a "go getter"). The one in the cell at the right edge of the picture is a Brandywine. The two in the back left cell of the tray in the back are Julia Childs. This little Julia Child seems to be a bit confused. These peppers were planted a week earlier but also sprouted yesterday. So far Aunt Ginny's Purple, Yellow Brandywine, Shuntukski Giant, and Olena Ukrainian have also sprouted out of the 40+ varieties I have planted. Still waiting for the other cells in the 6 packs to sprout. Now that I have more space in the flat that is on the heat mat, I'll be planting more tomatoes over the next few days and will do some cherry tomatoes last. I was wondering if I had started these too late, but they should all be about 6 weeks when we plant out around Memorial day. BTW, we had 3"+ of snow on Wednesday the 15th. Just a typical late spring last hurrah (I hope) for this area. Bets

I really enjoy the different moods that sunsets provide. They're kind of like women. Wildly unpredictable but in a terribly exciting and inviting sort of way. ;) Thanks for sharing your pics, Joan.

Sounds like fun. We might want to pick a date that will have fewer competing events for such picture taking time. New Year's Eve folks might have other things that are needing to take priority? Scheduling is usually half the thing on any group doing.

Nice! I miss the beautiful sunsets you get in PA.

Do you live in Scranton? I was born there (I live in Washington state now), and I still have family all over the area. I'm sure you must know some of them. :-)

Lovely! Is "The Office" a really big thing in Scranton? I would think it would be. It's my favorite show BTW.

No, I don't live in Scranton. I'm out in the country, about 25 miles away.

Yes, The Office is a very big thing in Scranton. Some of the actors, etc., came to the city for an "Office party" last year, and they had a huge turnout. I still haven't seen the show, but many of my friends love it and I'm sure it's only a matter of time until I check it out.

Susan- Was that the ridge with the wind turbines? I can barely make out the upright posts but I can't see any blades at the top.

We've only driven through that area during the day so we've missed those glorious sunsets. Your photos are wonderful.

Nope, the wind turbines are in another direction. I drive past those every so often, and really should take a picture. I remember my son took one from atop his 120' tower. The windmills were at least ten miles away, but they look like they were in our backyard. If I can find it, I'll post it.

I just looked it up in the library catalog, and Season Two of "The Office" is available to borrow. I'd rather start with Season One, so I'll check around. I love good comedy.

I left the area long before I could appreciate the beauty of a good sunset but let me say that I absolutely love the fall foliage between here and Scranton. I always make it a point to drive up to see my parents when it's at it's peak. I'm not sure what New England must look like if I get so excited about fall in PA.

I love The Office. It took me a while to warm up to it but I love the way they try to fit the 'real' Scranton into the show instead of just using the name. It's not 100% accurate but I appreciate that they try.
