Kolacki recipe uses margarine not butter?

I have an old kolacki fruit filled cookie recipe which I have made many times but not recently. It is a great recipe but itÂs a lot of work. (I guess thatÂs why I have not made it lately!) The woman who gave me the recipe (maybe 30 years ago) wrote out to use margarine. I use butter for most baking. The problem is the dough is so sticky it is hard to roll out. I can make a flattened ball, refrigerate it, roll it out, but then have to refrigerate again before I can get it off the waxed paper or plastic wrap I roll it on. If I add more flour, I lose the tender flaky quality. The dough has sour cream in it as well.

IÂm wondering if I just switch it to butter if that will make the dough easier to handle.

Thanks!
