Does anyone else have problems with Overstock?

Every single time I've tried to look at overstock.com, it's so painfully slow it's frustrating. I'm wondering if it's my computer, except that I don't have problems with any other website.

YES! I hate how slow their website is and I have upgraded cable internet...

Thanks, kimmieb. At least I know it's not just me. You would think they would realize how much better their business would be if their website worked better. I was so frustrated I decided I'd rather order from Amazon, but their selection wasn't as good.

Yes! I have a very small mouth, and my dentist last year switched to a new way of doing X-rays -- instead of the old folded X-ray tabs that go in your mouth (that were bad enough), he now does digital X-rays. And the thing that goes in your mouth to do it is HUGE. And cuts my mouth to ribbons. Add in the fact that I have a really strong gag reflex, and the entire experience is just fun, fun, fun! Usually after the first X-ray, and a whole lot of kvetching and gagging from me, the technician switches to the child size thingies...

Hi Ingrid My screen looks basically the same as what you describe, in that it starts off in ARF with the list of topics located slightly to right of centre, then when I click on a topic, the text shifts to the left and the sidebar of 'More Discussions' appears on the right. I don't have the problem with text in the list of topics disappearing off to the right, though. It all fits normally, plenty of room... I wonder if everything got out of kilter somehow, while you were trying various things to get the text to a legible size for you? Is the whole thing now/still a bit too large to fit your screen, perhaps? If so, can you reduce it just a little bit more, without the print becoming too tiny again? I think Houzz did increase the text size at one stage, after that first barrage of complaints, so perhaps it would be OK to downsize a bit now?* Alternatively, might it be that your whole screen content shifted over to the right at some stage - mine used to do that sometimes on my old computer, for reasons I never fathomed. I don't suppose there's a grey bar along the bottom you can just shift left a bit, is there? That's all I can think of at the moment... I do hope you can find a way to fix it somehow, soon. It must be very frustrating. *Oh, yes, can you get into 'Settings' on your computer, and increase your font size? Then you might be able to reduce the page (with that F- thing) without making the print too tiny. Good luck! Comtesse :¬)

Whatever the problem is, it is not uniform. No double pages here, no issues with posting anything (other than a delay from time to time) and no problems enlarging photos. Sometimes it is hard for me to understand why everyone is having so much trouble with this site when it works perfectly well for me 99% of the time but then others chime in with exactly the same problems so obviously something, somewhere, is amiss!! I am getting more and more convinced that the Houzz software is just not fully compatible with all devices and all browsers, as it seems to not work well for some and perfectly well for others. btw, I use a laptop with Windows 10 and Opera browser (Google Chrome clone).

Mike, you mentioned that you could post more than one photo, I've never seen that option or a way to grab several of them. I've only been able to insert one photo at a time, although I've been using the House Photo button (and then dragging my pic into the box) because in the past the Photo button didn't work so I got used to using the alternate way. Just a gripe, I get notifications to my phone, which I did allow thinking it would be for when people comment or like threads, but Houzz has added in their own notifications of sales or design stuff. I have the same problem on Overstock and a few other sites and have high speed cable.

Not knowing that much about computers in general, and mine being a few years old now, I think it may have to do with memory. When I added some more, things speeded up quite a bit WRT some applications.

My laptop is newer and I don't recall having any problems when using it.

I have a new laptop ( 2 weeks) with 4GB memory and Overstock is really SNAPPY on it.
I have high speed cable.
I think cable can slow down when there is heavy use. Have you noticed it faster or slower at different times of the day.

I just tried it out and it worked just fine. I have high speed wireless. It could be that you don't have enough memory in your computer or that you need to delete some of your history. Download CCleaner and use it twice a week and it will remove all the temp. files and history for you. I've been doing that for years plus I use Spybot once a week to detect any trojans or other spyware. You'd be surprised how many bugs are in your systems.

It might also depend on which browser you are using to access it. Have you tried Firefox? Internet Explorer is notoriously slow in its latest incarnations, if you're on PC. If not, try Firefox, Safari or Omniweb on Mac.

I searched overstock a few times last week. One time I had to just quit because their pages weren't downloading correctly and in some cases, not at all. I came back later that day and had no problem. So, it's not just you. They have some technology issues.
