Forever Stamps

I just wrote a letter and a card to my Mother and when I got out my stamps I remembered I was going to buy some more Forever Stamps. Is any one else going to do that. I use a lot to send out my Christmas cards and all through the year on letters and cards.

Yes, first class stamps are going up again in May. By a penny. Gotta get more forever stamps. I still have a few of last year's Christmas stamps, with the nutcrackers.

I used up all of my Christmas stamps last year, I may just use the Forever ones as that will save a bit of money. I don't believe I used the nut cracker ones though.

We get a long orange envelope that we use to order stamps. Just fill in the info, put a check in, put in the mailbox and poof, in a couple days there are your stamps. I use so few, since my bills are paid online and I use email for most correspondence. A book of 20 lasts a long time. I still have quite a few from the last time I ordered. The last ones I bought were 44 cents. Sue

How many forever stamps to mail to Canada?

I use three if not having it weighed and postage applied at the PO.....that little bit of extra/excess is worth it some days not to have to park, walk inside, wait in line at the counter. 2 stamps not quite enough, three a little more than you need.

Postage is postage, use them wherever you need postage. I've never had an issue. AFAIC we've been getting ripped off for a long time. Prepaying postage meant we bought the delivery of a 1st class letter and if you didn't use it for a few years shouldn't mean there's an expiration on it. It's about time they did the "forever" thing, which was done to sell more stamps anyway since people got sick of postal increases and started buying smaller amounts of stamps. I've been using the online and bank for bill-paying for years now and it's great. My bank will also send a check if they can't do electronic transfer for me so they pay the postage, check fee and envelope, rather than me. Very convenient and it's certainly a savings on postage using online. 10-15 payments per month means nearly $5-$7.50 per month just in postage, plus there's a small cost in envelope and I often tape the envelope shut for extra security, again a minimal cost but a cost nonetheless. Plus the gas and vehicle costs to take them to the mailbox or post office since I don't like putting them in the house mailbox unless I can keep an eye on it for safety. There has been too many times where kids and even not-so-kids have messed with the mail and I don't always get out and about every day. And for me it's not worth keeping 22¢ stamps around so when I need additional postage I sacrifice the cost of another stamp. In any case, I've quit sending Christmas cards, and use fax, email and instant messenger for a lot of communication so I use very few stamps these days. Even mail-order purchases are usually credit card or PayPal so my mail system use is very little and I'm very pleased about that. I got totally disgusted with the Post Office when they couldn't get a newspaper to me in less than 10-15 days so I don't want to give them any more business than necessary.

I got this from the USPS site:

"On May 11 the price for a 1-ounce First-Class Mail stamp will increase from 42¢ to 44¢."

I usually don't buy extras when I know it's increasing, but with it going up 2 cents this time, I am buying some.

I bought a 100 of them with part of the tax return. I'm hoping to get some more before the price increase. Every penny (or 2) saved helps stretch the unemployment check.

I didn't...I like theme stamps...I just bought a book of sunflowers and a couple sheets of Great Lakes ones and a bucks worth of 2 cent stamps, I have some 1 centers somewhere. I figure what bills I don't pay on line should have a nice stamp...and thank you notes of course. deb

As soon as I heard of the forever stamps I went and bought 500 stamps. It cost a bit but since then the price of stamps has increased by $0.10 each and continue to go up steadily. If I use every stamp before the next price hike I will have saved near to %50.00 on stamps and the savings can only go up!
I made a good DEAL!

That was always a pet peeve of mine. We prepay postage and then they raise it. A 1st class stamp should be a 1st class stamp forever. I don't use much postage anymore. Mostly for work and they pay for the postage. A few rebates and the water bill four times a year. That's about it. Quit the card scene a long time ago.

I bought books of the first batch that came out. So if we buy more now, do we just pay the going rate for the same stamps? Have they changed the way they look?

I do believe that the Forever stamps are what they say, they pay forever for your letter no matter how high the rates go.
