The Cracker Barrel

I just heard on our business news that the Cracker Barrel is in a hostile take-over by Steak and Shake, if you're familiar with them.

We really like Cracker Barrel. Hope it stays as is. They have some neat things in their "country" store, and their food is pretty good.

Uh oh. I like both of them. Can't they just get along?

Luvs, those little top hats are so cute and I think Kathleen has a great idea to use them as placecard holders. I agree that the Frosty's top hat Tam Gypsy used as centerpiece would tie it all together. I posted a link to a pic of another Frosty's Top Hat Table setting. If you click on the pic, it enlarges. (wonder if the hat is sold out though as I don't see that it is there anymore) The Christmas decor stuff has pretty much been packed away at all our local stores so I guess I'm "done" for this year which is probably a good thing! Yachter...I'm sorry when I posted my reply to you.. I referred to you as OA..so that reply was for you. Lynn...I hope you let us know if you went today..and if you bought anything. Syble...I have to tell you that I think your DH would like CB for their meals. Their food is like 'Home Cooked' meals. Not at all like FF Chainstore..I like that they will add something new each time we go. We started going to them when we traveled South, and I really looked forward to them. My DH is very 'picky' and he was impressed..So I'd say, give it a try at least once. Kathleen..thanks I like the soft colors too. I'm trying to figure out something for St. Pat's day.. I really don't have anything green..but will try to 'shop' again around my house! lol Punk...Glad you thought they were pretty.. The dishes can add up when you start to put the set together. That's why I bought some last year and added some this year. Even though they are a little different in pattern, they will still work together. All the pieces, including the cups, were $3.99 ea..Except for the plates and the S&Ps which were $5.99 ea...and the Egg Cups - $.99 ea.. I think your DGdtr would love them... jane

Hasn't been a Cracker Barrel around here for a long time. Never been there. I know a guy who used to manage one though.

No Cracker Barrel around here (Long Island). I'm too far north. Relatives who have driven to Florida love Cracker Barrel.

This fight has been going on for a while. Cracker Barrel is putting in measures to try to keep the takeover from happening. Hope they succeed.

Honestly I don't mind eating at Cracker Barrel, the food has always been good...occasionally a bit of a wait. The only problem I have is that there are at least a half dozen local people who own mom and pop operations that have food just as good and usually cheaper. I have never bought any of the high priced souvenirs they sell. If you are traveling though, stopping at Cracker Barrel is a safe bet because otherwise you don't have a clue about quality in local places and Cracker Barrel is nearly always placed in an easy on/off access to the expressway.

They do allow overnight RV parking in their parking lots so that's a good thing. If I needed a place to park overnight, I would consider it and have breakfast there as a thank you ....which I am sure is what they planned in the first place.
