Went To Cracker Barrel Today...I couldn't Help Myself!!

We were supposed to go to CB last week, but we had the Gkds here..So DH and I went today and boy was it crowded.

It's an hr drive..but I love their Breakfasts and it was worth the ride. My real intentions were to add to the Easter Dishes I bought there last year. I bought only two place settings and NO coffee mugs.

The pattern this year is a little different, but will mix in well with last years.

These plates don't have the basket weave around them,which I really loved, but are still pretty.

The egg cups are adorable...

I couldn't resist the Cute Salt & Pepper...

I didn't get the mugs last year... But with DH's encouragement... decided to get them this year.

What a Guy!!

I now have 4 - of everything.

Before I sat down to eat, I bought the two round plates first, because there were only 4 left. I didn't want to take a chance they'd be gone by the time I finished breakfast. I was glad I did, because they were selling out fast on everything.

I'm looking forward to Spring/Easter...and Warm Sunshine!!

OK I am now envious for sure! Those dishes are fan-tas-tic! I think CB is a 3 day drive for me, bummer!

Hi addictedtoroses, Anyone with such an addiction ... can't be all bad. When I saw your intro, I thought, "Never too late to par-ti-ci-pate". So - welcome aboard. But - you were here before I was. Wife's Mom, a teacher, willing to be dragged into aged category only kicking and screaming - encouraged kids to call her "Grammy". When she visited us in Korea, not too many years after Korean war, Korean women, many of whom lived really tough lives, couldn't believe that she was Sue's mother - swore she was her sister. Now several years departed this life. I think their Mom's Dad, who died when they were under 10, was "Grandpa": mine was (their Grandpas were never together). I don't remember what they called my stepmother - "Grandma", I think. They were somewhat older: I was married at 30, son born two years later. Son, now past 40, born in Korea, never married - no children (to speak of). Daughter, nearing 40, married over 13 years ago (she proposed). After about 5 years, hubby came home, announced he'd met his "dream ___" - and it wasn't her. (Don't remember the other part of the word, at the moment). Over 8 years ago. I said that I was glad there were no children, she said, "The way things were for the last while, Dad - I wasn't about to have any". She found a friend, introduced by a high school buddy that she's stayed friends with over the years, with whom she seems to have been getting on well, about a year and a half ago. He in Toronto - she in AZ. We've seen some more of her in the past year or so. Smart, vivacious, multi-faceted, caring. A person to be proud of. And thankful for. OK, you guys are awesome. I couldn't even read the posts until now because I would start to cry again. Isn't that silly? I usually have more perspective than this. I think my extended family (parents, siblings, etc.) has been more upset over how long this has taken than me. They seem to get mad at me that I haven't gotten madder before now, it has been driving them crazy and they don't even live here. :) But that is why I feel guilty about it. My job usually gives me perspective. I tear up a little sometimes when I am sitting with a dying patient, when I am hugging the family after pronouncing a patient that has just died and telling them their loved one is really gone, or talking to someone that just received a very grave diagnosis. I try to wait until the ride home to cry when I loose a patient I have come to know over weeks, months, or even years. But I don't usually cry over kitchens. My awesome brother who helps everyone, used to go to get a Christmas tree with me every year and bring a gas powered chain saw to cut it down. One year while I was looking for the "perfect" tree, he cut down Christmas trees for all the elderly and single women trying to do it themselves that he could find. When I called to him that I had it, "the" tree, he pulled the chain and pulled the chain. He was out of gas! He borrowed a hand saw and cut MY tree down by hand. But he still went back with me the next year. :) So when I needed a tree in my front yard cut down, he offered to do it. That day he said, you know I am going to do my best, but I usually only do my own because there is no gaurantee this tree won't land on your house. My brother rarely does less than a good job on anything, but darn it, didn't that tree land on the house. I stood and couldn't do anything becuase I was laughing so hard. When I could talk again I said, well you get what you pay for sometimes! Anyway, the moral of my story is that despite having good intentions and a good heart and doing your best, sometimes s**t happens. No matter how hard you try, no one promises life will be easy or fair. Besides, while I have been doing a "budget" remodel of the kitchen and livingroom for 20,000.00, many people can't afford to remodel at all, or are trying to do on much less, so I am actually pretty fortunate. You all have made me feel so much better! I am not used to being the one getting the hugs and support, I usually give them and I do so appreciate it. Now I need to suck it up and I will take a trip out to buy a great big umbrella to go over my patio table so I can enjoy the heat wave that is supposed to come later this week and get out of this darned mess! I just wish I felt happier about going out to do it. Maybe I will when I see out there and sit down under it to have lunch. Sue

dedtired, many place-names in Scotland begin with Auchter . . .something or other. I wouldn't have said it was 'common' perhaps a glance through a phone-book might prove me wrong! I think the original of Monarch of the Glen was by Scottish writer Compton Mackenzie. His Whisky Galore (book and later film) is a classic, based on a true story when during WWII a ship carrying thousands of barrels of whisky was wrecked of the Isle of Eriskay and the devious means by which the islanders hid the loot from the Customs men! nb the correct spelling of whisky; the true Scottish way. ;-)

SJ, I'm sorry you're sick. It showed up middle of last week as a minor cold but then morphed into a horrible wracking cough. The Kaiser doc on-call told me it lasts about a week, except for some and it lasts for 2-3 weeks. Sounds like they're talking about you, my friend. Friday and Saturday were horrible, but I feel so much better today. I need to lay off the codeine because it was making me feel icky. They also gave me a QVAR inhaler. Anyway, my cough has improved considerably. I hope you're on the mend soon. Either hardwired or good batteries should suffice, right? If you have power and the alarm beeps, is it telling you it's time to replace your batteries? Even if it's hardwired and receiving power? It should be easier, and less scary, to be able to service these things. As it so happens, the alarm that went off is on a 9-ft. ceiling and accessible by ladder. The other two are on walls near the apex of a 13-ft. vaulted ceiling. It's out of my reach, at least on a ladder I'm willing to trust. Of course people shouldn't be disabling them and then forget about them, but they should be easier to maintain.

Color me green as well.
We don't have a CB so I've never seen that set. They are absolutly adorable. looove the trim on the plates esp.

Those are darling, Jane! I had no idea that CB sold those kinds of items. There's a CB down in Albuquerque and I drive past it every time I head down there to shop. OK, I want to go and check out their gift shop now!! I love the pattern on your new dinnerware. It's soft and very Spring-like. The brown trim on them makes them especially pretty to me, as does the detailing on the insides of the cups, etc. I can't wait to see the table you come up with using them all!

Wanda, that green-eyed monster is a hoot. He's perfect for these feelings of envy that I, for one, keep getting attacked by. LOL. I had to save him to my graphics file, love this guy!

OA, you said what I was thinking...Jane didn't reeeaaalllly go there for breakfast. WE know better! LOL

Jane, I WARNED all of you!!! Yes, those are the same ones I saw right after Valentine's day & I resisted. They are actually even prettier in person than in the pictures.

I am jealous now too! I do love the shape of the cups, that is was got to me & the pattern on them also, plus that egg shaped dish!

Our CB had the dinner plates with the basket weave trim, but the smaller plates were like what you bought, with raised flowers around the edges.

I'm jealous too. I've been looking at those dishes since they first put them out. I am hoping that there will be some left to mark down.

After Dinner or should I say ' After Breakfast' Treats!

For those of you who have one near you Go...If You've Never Gone...Go.. You'll enjoy it..and won't come out 'Empty Handed'..A little Poorer..Yes...but Smiling!!
They DO have great Breakfasts..as well as other meals..they're priced Reasonably..but you'll really enjoy their 'OLD TIME COUNTRY STORE' that's fun!
It's filled with lots of Nostalgia Things, many of which bring you down 'Memory Lane' as a kid.
OA...Karen... How did you KNOW what I was REALLY going there for??
I guess - Great 'Scheming Minds'...think alike!!! lol
Good thing DH's favorite meal is Breakfast...so NOt Only was I a Happy Camper...he was too..especially since I did most of my shopping AFTER he ate!

I am sooooo glad we don't have a CB anywhere near, but I am soooo glad that you do, so I can enjoy those precious dishes. I always want to eat at CB when we travel, but DH will not eat at any chain restuarants, only hole-in-the-wall, home owned kind of places. Those bunny scenes are just the sweetest ever.

Oh my, they are gorgeous! No CB here, have never been in one, but I have seen pretty things people got there!
Jane they are lovely! So soft and Springy! CTS never has anything as pretty as that!
I am sure you will do a beau table with them...
But don't skip St Pat's! We have to spread out these holidays!

Syble...I have to tell you that I think your DH would like CB for their meals. Their food is like 'Home Cooked' meals. Not at all like FF Chainstore..I like that they will add something new each time we go. We started going to them when we traveled South, and I really looked forward to them. My DH is very 'picky' and he was impressed..So I'd say, give it a try at least once.

Kathleen..thanks I like the soft colors too. I'm trying to figure out something for St. Pat's day.. I really don't have anything green..but will try to 'shop' again around my house! lol

Punk...Glad you thought they were pretty.. The dishes can add up when you start to put the set together. That's why I bought some last year and added some this year. Even though they are a little different in pattern, they will still work together. All the pieces, including the cups, were $3.99 ea..Except for the plates and the S&Ps which were $5.99 ea...and the Egg Cups - $.99 ea..

Enablers here are going to keep me from ever being able to retire. Maybe I should just plan on buying dishes and forget buying a new truck!LOL
