Comments (29)I am sorry but I don't see what the big problem you all are talking about here. First the house hardly looks run down and the dog kennel looks clean and so do the dogs.I hope they are not in there 24/7 as they are high energy dogs and they need a job, not jail. Looks to me that you have plenty of space from your house to the fence line. It isn't as if your house is 6 feet from the fence. Truthfully you sound picky and the type of neighbor who needs to be more tolerant of others living around you or buy a bigger piece of property.Everybody doesn't live or want to live like their neighbors and when you buy a piece of property that is close enough to the neighbors keep this in mind.WIth all the space you have to work with you could make it so you wouldn't know if there were dogs or neighbors there or not.Why is it up to them to change to make you happy? DIdn't you move next to them?WHy are they bad neighbors? I may upset some of you but did anyone ever consider that they don't think the dog kennel is a eyesore? I myself didn't think anything about the neighbors looked so bad that I felt the need to wage war on them. If you really hate what you see then why don't you put a berm in and fill it full of the "proper plants" Add a huge water feature to help drown out any sounds that they may make living near you. Just remember to leave a place where you can still see how they are or are not maintaining their place. Sounds to me that your wife likes to have a full veiw of the neighbors place. No berm no fence hummmm. Everyone here seemed to jump at the chance to rip these neighbors apart. One talks about the smell coming from the kennels? What? I never read anything about a stench or constant barking from these animals. I may need glasses more than I thought because the neighbors house didn't come close to being run down looking to me. All I can say is feel blessed none of you are my neighbors. If my neighbor has the nerve to complain about what I do or don't do in my yard, I can promise the "problem only gets worse" Last I remembered this was a free country and it isn't a crime to live differently than others. For those who are senitive to others ways of living really should avoid moving anywhere too close to others. I bet I could find something obnoxious about your yard,gardens,car,fertilizing/spraying,wife or your attitude but I would never think about talking dirt to others about it. I would be too busy tending to my yard, house and life to find the time. Maybe you didn't mean to sound the way you did in your post and all you really wanted was some advice to make your yard more private instead of blocking out the low life neighbors place that you find so hard to look at. All I know is I found not only your post but almost everyone elses post out of line and obnoxious. Ironbelly- you suggest to fight them legally? For what? A judge would look at that picture and write you off as the noisy controlling neighbor who needs to get a life. Man you said move NOW!!! Comments (16)I agree with the others about reporting it. And rabies is not serious, IT IS FATAL. Always. There is still no treatment. If you get symptoms, it is too late. If you cannot see official vet records for this dog, get treatment for rabies. Very few dogs have rabies, but skunks, bats, and other wild animals do have it, and can give it to dogs without the owner having any idea. Bat bites are so small that I have read that there is now a recommendation that everyone in the house be treated for rabies if a bat is found to be in the house at all, unless the bat is captured and tested. It is the saliva that spreads the disease. A dog playing with a dead animal with rabies can contract it, the dog does not have to be bitten. Look up info on rabies, I think I also read that the animal giving you rabies can also not yet have visible symptoms. This is nothing to play around with. Comments (22)Well, I just went through a frustrating similiar experience and here is how it played out: My neighbor has 5 unlicensed dogs that she barely cares for. They are constant barkers. The neighbor to her South gets the honor of dealing with the barking mostly. Last week, I am home, and notice a animal control truck in front of the barker's house. The dog owner was not home. The officer left a message that the owner must contact AC. Much to my surprise, the owner called AC., Subsequently she brought back one of the dogs (the second most vocal of the lot) to the shelter from which it had been purchased. NOW GET THIS!! She called the Mayor and pleaded her case to keep all four remaining dogs because they are old....need medical attention...too ugly to adopt.... etc. The major said no. Now she is in cahoots with the South neighbor (the one who originally called) to lie to animal control that the fourth dog actually belongs to the neighbor - in the likely event AC comes to her door again. Moral of the Tale: #1) Owners such as your neighbors are mentally and emotionally unstable people that you want to limit verbal contact with. #2) You cannot let bad owners ruin your quality of life. #3) Involving the authorities may be the best thing for the dogs - whatever the outcome....See Moreneighbors harassing my dogs
Comments (26)To be perfectly honest, I don't see the purpose of a "fake" camera. That will not protect you if, after harrassing your dogs for weeks or months, the tormentors should decide to come in your yard and are bitten. That camera will not help. I would google surveilance cameras and see what is available online. I bet you can find something pretty reasonable and if the worst happened, you would have visual proof that your dogs were goaded into action. As far as providing an outside area for your dogs to run and play, I don't see the problem as long as they have shelter and food & water. There are a lot of dog owners whose purpose in owning a dog is to provide warning when strangers come on your property. I have 6 acres and have 2 inside dogs and 2 outside dogs. They are trained to stay on the property even though the two little ones could easily go through the field fence on the property perimeter. The larger dogs cannot and their size alone is a good deterant to trespassers. Because I live 12 miles outside of town, I have two sets of cameras on my veranda mounted at opposite corners and pointed down the front and across the ends of the house. This shows any activity around doors and windows. Before you decide that I am paranoid be aware that I live close to the Mexican border and we have illegals walking through the country side. Before getting the dogs, they would walk up to the house to ask for food. I was OK with that as long as I had family around but I am here alone now and would rather not take a chance. Pardon the ramble but, the point is, cameras are your best way to document what is going on and you can find something reasonable.
