Both my cats are female, almost 4 years old. I also agree that they can be extremely finicky about their litter AND the size of their box. I had to get one of them declawed when we moved...she was clawing everything, especially ME whenever she wanted to knead me. The vet insisted that I use "Yesterday's News" litter (one made out of newspaper) instead of their regular scoopable clay type. NEITHER cat would use the box until I switched back. And if I try to use too small a box (like the one I used when we moved and had to confine them to a huge kennel for the day), the BMs didn't make it into the box. I've also had female cats in the past with bladder issues that would spray, especially in the spring...It is not just males that spray. And they were spayed. Char

I love that email... i have it saved in my "saved" mail folder. that email came with pictures..soo funny!!! so true if you have a dog and cat!!!! the first time i read it i was laughing so hard...it is great!!!!!! love the video alphaba...my dog and cat would never tolerate that, either way. although i wish they would, but they do get along very nicely most of the time. the cat tortures the dog alot which is hysterical. he is long gone and she is still wondering what the H**L just happened! they make us laugh every day...what a joy they are. thanks again for the video!

I could view them by disabling my AdBlock on that site. Their expressions are ferocious. Smudge doesn't have a mean look at all. Maine Coon's are loving and gentle, they're called the Gentle Giant. Smudge is too gentle......when someone new comes to the house, he'll hide until he senses that he can trust them. It can take several visits before he "takes' to a person. They're also very vocal, they have a vocabulary of several different sounds. They don't meow, they kind of bark.....a short vocal noise. Like a Grufff. Smudge howls, cries like a baby, yodels, has a high-pitched noise, all that he makes every night as soon as we get into bed. He serenades as he comes all the way down the hall from the livingroom and into the bedroom. He's quite loud, I'm afraid the lady below us can hear him. Actually if it weren't for her hearing, I'm sure she could!

He's not half bad looking and very confident in himself to risk doing a rap about a wussy little half-grown kitten. It was refreshing and fun and I really enjoyed it. We had a killer kitty. Her mom became ill and quit nursing her kittens 3 days after they were born. We managed to save Ellison. She was all alone in the house all day while we were at school, lying on a towel on a hot water bottle in the bathtub. We would clean her and feed her when we got home and before school and somehow she survived. My sister and I would carry her around under our shirts. It was autumn when she was born and she would crawl inside our shirt to stay warm. My dad would joke that he'd invent a three-cupped bra for us so we could carry her better. When she was teen-aged, though, she terrorized the house with attacking feet and biting ankles. She lived to be 23 or 24 years old, diabetic and on insulin at the end.

Nancy in mich~you're right that guy isnt bad looking!I'm sorry to hear about the loss of your kitty.She sounds awesome.

Any of us who have loved a cat can truely understand where this guy is coming from.I couldnt stop laughing when I first saw it.

Once she got past the kitten stage, she wasn't very lovable. She was my sister's cat. Sue would buy a Cadbury chocolate bar and leave it in her room for a later date and Ellison would find it and nibble on it. She'd get into Doritos and would lick off the spices and leave the chips. She got cat hair all over the house and it tickled my nose and I hated to visit and sleep on cat-hairy beds. She would not let Sue touch her for YEARS, except when she would crawl onto the bed in the middle of the night and suck on Sue's blanket and get it sopping wet while kneading at Sue and waking her up. I always figured she had an oral fixation from losing her mommy so young.

You would never predict that I would end up with three dogs who shed all year and not only leave hair on my bed, but muddy paw-prints sometimes! Ellison died several years ago. Sue decided it was time and took her in to be euthanized without telling anyone. She just could not talk about it beforehand. She had Ellison for her entire adult life. Ellison had Diabetes for several years, thyroid problems, and then had either kidney or liver failure at the end. Sue had become allergic to her and needed two or three meds just to be able to live with Ellison. Since she got the courage together to let Ellison go, her asthma steadily improved and she is no longer on meds. She misses having a cat, though. No matter how ornery, furbabies do burrow deep into our hearts.

Yes,I fanaticly watched all the Sparta episodes.I'm looking forward to any news one coming out too.

I can relate with your sister's cat.Since my boy has grown up,he isnt very lovable either.He will sleep with me,but if I touch him he gets up and leaves,LOL. He will allow me to pet him,but only if he is in the mood for it. Otherwise he just runs away.
He doesnt like to be held at all,and if you try you get a deep throaty sound as a warning.Although out of everyone in the house he lets me hold him the most.
He is extremely playful though.He acts like a giant grown kitten.He loves chasing strings and will do flips to get them.He also likes playing fetch with a paper ball and will drop it at your feet and wait for you to play with him.
I also hate having kitty hair on my pillow! :)
