Comments (37)Veimar.. Sing, talk, heck dance with your plants..whichever method works is all that matters. I'd love to attend a group or university where plant studies are done. Are you familiar with Calatheas? Leaves move suddenly like their cousin, Maranta, 'Prayer Plant.' I had one Calathea with large leaves that jerked suddenly and fiercely, one leaf would occasionally knock down a smaller, neighboring plant. I don't know why it didn't happen before. Many mysteries in this old world. Please don't get me started about people who buy plants or BIRDS to match furniture. Laura, I'm okay, thank you. It's too bad your work hours are so long. Or maybe not. Don't you love people who know their minds? lol. Laura, you're joking, but I knew a few people who's s/o's were jealous of everything including inanimate objects. Rodden, can't say I blame you. 5-months of winter! Summer 2013 through winter was the worse, coldest. I think we had 2-weeks in the 90's then back to cool. I thought OK was dry??? Low humidity? I can deal with heat, but when temps rise over 100F, I need more than a fan and open windows. Don't like a/c though. Plants are on stand-still when temps get too hot. Since you have rocky soil, you'd definitely need to amend. What about succulents grown in-ground? Agave, Optuntia? My niece lives in Lake Zurich, but she has artificial plants. lol. Sorry about your mom. I imagine your winters are nicer than our spring...warm enough for potted plants to be outside. What type of plants interest you? Laura, VA got hit with 13" of snow? Comments (9)I love love love my runnels! I have "runnelettes" (only 12 inches long) b/c I have very little counter space. But I still had to have them. I use them daily for washing produce, draining noodles, positioning the wet silverware basket as I unload the dishwasher. I just ignore them when I am working--they don't get in my way at all. My son can even roll out ropes of bread dough over them (though i prefer the smooth counter for that). Comments (14)The fabricator we will be working with said he COULD put runnels into a granite countertop but he would do everything he could to talk me out of them. Especially because we were going to go with a leathered finish. He said it is hard to get a consistent finish on the insides of the runnels and therefore it becomes difficult to keep them clean. He suggested installing the Blanco sink with the integrated drainboard instead. Comments (424)@duffwny - if you really want to see what Cloe tile looks like, I suggest ordering a box from Lowe’s or Amazon (Walmart might also have it - I bought a different color of Cloe tile through Walmart last year because the return policy allowed me to take it back to a brick and mortar Walmart store - even though it was shipped to me directly from Bedrosian). Both have free shipping and free returns. Also, when I purchased it - and placed a bunch of tiles out on my kitchen island, it looked like it had less color variation - but when I took a photo of it with my phone, the variation looked the same as in other photos I’d seen posted on Houzz and on Bedrosian’s IG page. The price of Cloe tile has dramatically increased since I purchased it for my kitchen + bathroom two years ago - I think it was about $6.99 sf! Lowe’s has a 90 day return policy (can return to actual store and save shipping cost): Amazon has free shipping and free returns for 30 days (fyi - I have seen the price fluctuate quite a bit on Amazon): This says ”Free 30 day returns” - but then has 90 days when clicked.
