Capital's got this fix coming!!! I am a newbie to GW and this is my first post. I am building a new house and was looking to put in a high end rangetop in the kitchen. I came across the CC while searching but had no idea about the brand. So I searched the GW for info on the Culinarian. Thanks for all the info and feedback from everyone, they were very helpful. However, I was concerned about the lack of a true simmer burner (contrary to what Capital's marketing says) as noted in various threads here. So I called Eurostove today to find out if this is a real problem and if Capital has fixed it by now. Trevor Lawson informed me that it is a known problem. However, he said Capital is working on a real simmer burner for the Culi, an 8K or 9K burner, that just contains the inner burner holes. This would be offered as a retrofit kit to current owners. Expected availability is 4-6 weeks from today, so that puts it around end of July 2012. Perhaps Capital's engineers saw Billy's fix and thought we can do it too. The simmer issue was one thing that bugged me about going with the CC, but now that is being fixed, I think I will buy the 48" CC with the BBQ when the simmer is incorporated into the design.

The ply underlayment worked out great. I pretty much followed the "Staceyneil Directive" :) Though I know she would be the first to admit she stands on the shoulders of giants. I supplemented my education with Todd's tutorial over in the "liberry". I don't think I could have planned that wire layout any better. It came out almost perfect. Lots of pen to paper accounts for that accuracy in wire layout. I got the lath out tonight without difficulty. Gently moved about on the floor as if it was thin ice. Spreading my weight out over the floor by laying for most of the work.

the yellow tape is just that yellow, the color is for id purpose only, there is no difference in the tapes and yes soft set does mean that it does not harden and the flare fittings can have pipe dope applied to them they really don't need it, but it hurts nothing the fittings are flared there fore do not need to have the threads "gummed up" like a threadded pipe does after installing your flex connector, and turning on the gas it is advisable to soap the fittings to fix a leak now instead of latter, useing a spray bottle.like a fantistic plastic pump bottle, put about 1/8 cup dishwashing soap then water. fill bottle about 1/2 way then spray fittings you want a film of soapy water and bubbles on the fittings watch for growing bubbles

Hi, I just read this and wanted to give you a little reassurance. I live in Denver too and I can tell you that your issue is the norm here, not the exception. If your house was built in Denver during that time, it is going to have asbestos in the texture and joint compound. The last owner probably didn't know because they didn't have the same rules for testing before doing remodeling work back then. Or they did know and didn't disclose it to you. But it would cost you a lot of time and expense to prove it. The important thing is to not freak out. There are lots of homes in Denver that are in the same boat. We are in a super tight housing market here and your home is probably still very desirable. If you sold right now, you would probably take no hit what so ever. I friend of mine just listed their home with asbestos and led paint in Denver for 1.5 million. Just be sure when you disclose it, that you keep your disclosure brief and include that the areas that tested positive for asbestos were professionally removed and remediated. Something like: "Asbestos was found in the kitchen area during a remodel and was professionally removed and remediated." Our disclosure forms in Colorado include a box that says "I don't know" if you really don't know for sure if there is asbestos in other areas of the house because they have not been tested, check the "I don't know box" for asbestos on the disclosure. Then write in "Asbestos was found and professionally removed from the kitchen during a remodel." Then you are providing all the facts and leaving it up to the potential buyer if they want to do additional testing after they purchase the home or do any remodeling. But seriously, don't feel bad. Your home is still great.
