Well, that was disgusting....The Amazing Race.. talk..spoilers...

Why in the world the Globetrotter had to PEE outside the library in Austria, I do not understand. Surely he could have used the men's room inside, but to just publicly urinate outside, where anyone could see him, I just think that's disgusting and I was really hoping it would cost them a penalty. What a horrible way to treat a landmark building and it was so disrespectful and probably illegal, too.

I'm so glad the cowboys' risk of taking a different flight didn't finish them off. I understand why they tried it, but sometimes I think it's better to hang with the pack than to try to beat it with something you have no control over, like flight times. Thank goodness for the food challenge.

And when are the racers going to learn, there is no such thing as "an easy meal" on The Amazing Race? It's either going to be too much, too fast, too gross, or something like that. They were lucky that so many of them tried it and failed, and then luckier even that it was a non-elim round.

And Vyxin needs to change her name to Badger. lol Man, I can understand being frustrated with the whining but she was relentless in her comments to Kent. (Kynt? I can't remember how he spells it.)

So what did you think of last nights episode?

Missed most of it cos the tv was out, along with internet for some unknown reason. I'll have to watch it online today. But public urination? That's gross!

I agree completely about the Globetrotter, I was quite amazed that they showed it, and thought there must be a penalty or they would have cut it.

Overall enjoyable episode for me, I lived in Vienna for a semester in college, and attended the university they showed. It is always fun when they are racing around places that you're familiar with.

I hope that the cowboys get their act together, they are my favs, and have barely escaped the last few weeks.

Talk about ugly Americans? I thought that was inexcusable. He definitely should have been penalized . The cowboys are playing stupidly, and I like them. They should go with the pack. If there's delay, everyone has it. As for the food challenge, I don't eat fried foods and if that was meat, I would have been really screwed since I don't eat meat either. . It was enormous. Never ever do food challenges if you can help it.

    Missed the peeing part...thank goodness.
The cowboys make me nervous but they are pulling it off.
I hope their luck holds. They got screwed pretty bad by hanging with the crowd the last time they were on AR so maybe that is the reason for the strategy?

I bet the show gets a ton of comments on that despicable behavior of the globetrotter and the globetrottes organization also should do something to him. Their name is being sullied by that kind of behavior. I can not believe he was not reprimanded in some manner. The next team if they had not been warned by the other globetrotter would have likely run right into his back. I thought surely I was seeing things at first and no he could not be peeing on any building in public but to make it worse such a famous and distinguished building. Definitely contributes to the ugly American instead of building up our image, not to mention leaving a stench behind.

I think people should let the show know exactly how they feel.

    I love the cowboys!

I think that at the very least a very public apology is in order and that he should be severely reprimanded by the Globetrotters, or even kicked off of them. That is just so rude, tacky, and disrespectful, (besides probably being against the law) and makes a very bad name for the USA.

Here is a link that might be useful: more talk about it

I was outraged! There should be some backlash. I thought surely I was mistaken when I saw that, so I re-wound the recording. I was and am UPSET at Amazing Race for not addressing the issue. Ugly Americans is right. I am no longer a fan of the Globetrotters.

If we as Americans are so upset by what the globetrotter did, can you even begin to imagine just how outraged The Austrian people must be?

While I am not condoning his behavior, I think everyone is overreacting. First of all what was Amazing Race thinking in airing that? That was unnecessary. That scene should be on the cutting room floor along with what I am sure are many other similar scenes. This is a race for one million dollars. Teams have lost by stopping to pee. Do you really think that this was an isolated incident? I think not.

Renee has a good point. Given that they are racing there are a lot of things done that would be rude under other circumstances. From the way taxis are hailed, the pushing and shoving through crowds and probably a lot of public vomiting during food challenges. It would be interesting to see a series of real behind the scenes "how I survived the Amazing Race" shows. But we won't see that because they want new contestants to not have the background info.

A LOT of editing goes on. You could see he was looking around with a kind of urgent look on his face before he said he had to go and then decided to use the corner. Possibly a corner with a drain.

The producers decided to leave it in. I'm sure plenty of racers have done the same. Especially the men.

Personally I was amazed at how daintily they were eating the schnitzel. Forget the knife and fork. Pick it up and eat. That would be the only way to get all the at food down in the allotted time.

You only have to do a small amount of travelling around Europe to discover this is not so uncommon. There are public toilets on street corners in Paris. When large crowds are anticipated in Amsterdam, public urnials are placed around the city. They are not public restrooms that we are accustomed to seeing at rest stops or public parks. They are kiosks that are stictly for that purpose. They offer less exposure than going against the side of a building, but no more dignity.

I'll bet there are men's rooms inside the National Library, though. Where they had just been.

Just asked Woody- he's been to Austria and all over Europe and Asia. He does not agree that this would be normal behavior outside the National Library in Vienna, although the word "common" does seem to fit here.

Let a foreigner pee on the Statue of Liberty or Lincoln's Memorial or something and see how it flies here.

If you Google public urination in Europe you will find it is very common.

European countries are just n recently getting around to installing free public "restrooms".

Some of these public "restrooms" are nothing more than retractable urinals. Some are simple step in areas similar in looks to open public phone booth, no door just an alcove at best.

"Only in America" do we get so disgusted by the sight of a man's penis or a woman's breasts.

For me, it's more about decency (as in respect for property) and hygiene. Nothing to do with nudity, I think we can all agree that we didn't see any parts of his body that we don't normally see. Really gotta pee and don't want to find a restroom? Go hide behind your car door in the parking lot. Still gross, but slightly less offensive. It's just classless to pee in public, IMO, on a national treasure like that library. To each his own, though.

I don't watch the show but DS did and found it offensive and disgusting also

Did anyone watch the replay (check on (youtube)!! Flight time has to pee and Big Easy says "pee in a cup"-thats what he is doing-not peeing on the library itself!!!

Hmm. I thought Big Easy said "pee in the car, we gotta go, there's people behind us". I didn't notice Flight Time having a cup in his hand just prior to ducking off the sidewalk.

lisa fla, do you have the link to the Utube replay video? I couldn't find it.

What did he do with the cup?
